Student answer (Band 6.0)

There is an ongoing debate about whether everyone should save money for their future. From my perspective, money plays an important role in our lives. We have to save it to tackle emergency situations.

One major advantage of saving money is that when a medical emergency is occurs then people can use their savings to tackle these situations. Nowadays, medical cost is increased we have to pay a lot of money to hospitals. The government already provides free medical treatment in government hospitals, however citizen trust private hospitals which are more costly. For instance, Pakistani government provides free treatment in the government hospitals but people prefer Al-Shifa and Agha Khan hospitals because they believe that these hospital are better to treat any kind of disease. These hospitals are expensive. Therefore, citizen of Pakistan prefer to save money to tackle illness.

Furthermore, extra money will be helpful for students because they have to pay a lot of tuition fees. If they develop a habit to save money, they will be able to pursue their higher education without depending on their parents. Many students do part-time jobs to meet their expenses. For example, a students is doing a job during his academic period he will save money for his further education and able to support his parents. Additionally, he will get practical experience, so he will get a job after completing his degree in relevant field because he already had a experience. Therefore, almost every university allow students to do part-time job during study because they know the importance of saving money habit.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that saving money is important for everyone, particularly young people, because they can tackle emergency situations easily without depending on others. Moreover, building a habit of saving money will be helpful to get higher education and to to build a strong career.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses the prompt clearly and maintains a consistent position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for saving money, specifically focusing on medical emergencies and educational expenses. The ideas are extended with examples, such as the mention of specific hospitals in Pakistan and the benefits of part-time work for students. To reach a higher band, ensure that your arguments are fully developed; for instance, the link between part-time work and 'saving money' could be more explicitly connected to the long-term financial security mentioned in the prompt. Overall, the response is well-focused and directly answers the question asked.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your arguments. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as 'these hospital' (should be plural) and 'a students is doing' (subject-verb agreement). Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. To improve, focus on varying your cohesive devices to make the flow feel more natural and sophisticated rather than relying on standard linking words.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'emergency situations', 'tuition fees', and 'practical experience'. There are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'medical cost is increased' (should be 'medical costs have increased') and 'citizen trust' (should be 'citizens trust'). While you attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary, some phrasing is slightly repetitive. To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more precise academic collocations and ensure that pluralization and word forms are consistently accurate throughout the text.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader, such as 'when a medical emergency is occurs' (incorrect passive/active construction), 'citizen of Pakistan prefer' (missing article/pluralization), and 'a students is doing' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor slips. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score in this category.
