Student answer (Band 5.0)
Saving money is important for every individual independent of age groups for their future wellbeing. I firmly believe that managing future finances by saving money is necessary to all age groups including youngsters, however, it also depends on personal financial circumstances.
People save money for their upcoming financial requirements and it is important for youth as they might face any financial difficulty in future. Adults buy assets and save money in different ways to enjoy a smooth retirement life however it is equally beneficial for young people as they have a long way to go. Therefore it is important for all age groups to save amount of money in their ongoing life. People might face any emergency or hard situations including health problems, unemployment, etc. in their lives so in such circumstances, individuals can consume the saved money and these circumstances can occur in the lifetime of all age groups. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response is significantly under the required word count of 250 words, reaching only 176 words. Furthermore, the essay is incomplete, ending abruptly in the middle of a sentence. While you establish a clear position and provide some relevant ideas regarding financial security and emergencies, the development is limited due to the unfinished nature of the task. To improve, you must ensure you complete all parts of the prompt and provide sufficient supporting detail to meet the length requirement. The lack of a conclusion and the incomplete body paragraph prevent a higher score.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay shows some attempt at logical organization, with an introduction and a body paragraph. However, the abrupt ending severely disrupts the coherence of the piece. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'therefore' and 'however', but they are sometimes used repetitively or in a slightly mechanical way. The paragraphing is insufficient, as the essay is cut off before a proper structure could be established. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear topic sentence and a logical flow of ideas leading to a conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task but remains quite basic and repetitive. Phrases like 'saving money' and 'financial difficulty' are used frequently. There is little evidence of less common lexical items or sophisticated collocations. While the meaning is clear, the range is limited, which restricts the ability to express ideas with precision. To improve, try to incorporate more academic vocabulary related to finance and personal management, and avoid repeating the same phrases throughout the text.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'save amount of money' (missing article), 'after his father death' (missing possessive 's'), and '28 yrs old students' (subject-verb agreement). Punctuation is generally functional, but the incomplete sentence at the end is a major issue. To improve, focus on mastering basic articles, possessives, and subject-verb agreement, and ensure that you proofread your work to avoid unfinished sentences.
