Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argue that everyone should save money for their future including the youngers. In my opinion, I am agree with this perception due to it will assist them to be financially stable and be a good expenditure.

Savings is a very good habit, everyone should do it for their nest egg. The main reason behind it, a person who stores money can easily do investments on various assets which will be valuable in future such as land, expensive jewelleries. As a consequence, individuals can use the money when they need. This habit will support them to be financially strong.

The second reason is our future, it is totally unpredictable. We don't know what is going to happen with us that's why we should accumulate money. If we fall a sick ever, on that time we can use that money for our better medical treatment. Thirdly, it is about young people, they need to save money cause it will help them to become a good expenditure. By doing it, they will be able understand that which things are important for them to buy and whose are not. Another reason is, most of the students of our country were not able to find jobs after completing their graduation. On that time, this money will aid them to survive or starting a new business. That's why I believe that young people also should save money.

In contrast, few people still believe that saving is not important due to future is unpredictable, and we should enjoy our present time by doing whatever we want. Students should enjoy their time fully.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the unpredictability of the future and the development of financial responsibility in young people. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The argument regarding 'good expenditure' is repetitive and lacks clarity, and the counter-argument in the final paragraph is underdeveloped, lacking a strong rebuttal or synthesis. While the main points are supported with examples, they could be expanded further to reach a higher band. The response is sufficient to meet the requirements of the task but lacks the depth of analysis expected at higher levels.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. There is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'The main reason behind it,' 'The second reason,' and 'In contrast,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical, and the referencing is occasionally unclear, such as the phrase 'on that time' used repeatedly. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the final paragraph is quite brief, which affects the overall balance of the essay structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their opinions clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'financially stable,' 'nest egg,' and 'accumulate money.' However, there are noticeable errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'youngers' (should be 'young people'), 'do investments' (should be 'make investments'), and 'good expenditure' (which is used incorrectly to mean 'financial literacy'). These errors do not impede communication but demonstrate a limited range and occasional lack of precision in word usage.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement, article usage, and prepositional phrases (e.g., 'If we fall a sick ever,' 'on that time'). The sentence 'I am agree with this perception' is a basic error. While the writer attempts complex structures, they are often faulty. The punctuation is generally functional, but the recurring grammatical inaccuracies require the reader to occasionally re-read to grasp the intended meaning.
