Student answer (Band 6.0)

I agree wholeheartedly with the statement provided that one needs to save money for their future regardless of their age and I will further elaborate my thoughts and why I strongly agree with this statement. First and foremost I believe youth should be taught about the importance of money from a very young age as it builds the foundation for knowing the value of money, some steps we can take to educate the youth on financial importance is to provide seminars, youth programs, financial literacy demos which allows young minds to enquire regarding ways to generate their own income, save for the future and investing from a young age so it gives fruitful results in their upcoming future because one thing is certain that tough times can arise on anyone and at anytime so its always important to stay vigilant and cautious regarding your spendings and savings. Other than this its very important for the youth to prepare for their future endeavors whether they want to pursue higher education or start their entrepreneurial journey, all of this requires funding and being young it is extremely difficult to build trust with adults and reason your way, unless one has a solid plan or they come from supportive financially sufficient backgrounds, if one has saved up money they can always start from little and it teaches responsibility, integrity and self dependency which are important characteristics to survive in this world, therefore I believe that everyone irregardless of their age should save up on money so that they have a strong backing and in times of suffering can support themselves and help those in need.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have clearly stated your position and maintained it throughout the response. You address the prompt by explaining why saving is important for financial literacy and future endeavors. However, the response is written as a single, very long paragraph. While the ideas are relevant, they are not fully developed into distinct, supported points. To reach a higher band, you should structure your essay into clear paragraphs—an introduction, two body paragraphs with specific examples, and a conclusion. This would allow you to expand on your points about 'financial literacy' and 'entrepreneurial journeys' more effectively, moving beyond general statements to more nuanced arguments.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The primary issue here is the lack of paragraphing. The entire essay is one continuous block of text, which makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your ideas. While you use some cohesive devices like 'First and foremost' and 'Other than this', the lack of structural breaks means the flow is somewhat mechanical. To improve, you must use paragraph breaks to separate your introduction, main arguments, and conclusion. This will help demonstrate a clearer logical progression and make your writing much easier to navigate.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'financial literacy', 'entrepreneurial journey', and 'vigilant'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'irregardless' (which is non-standard; 'regardless' is preferred) and 'enquire regarding' (which is slightly awkward in this context). You also repeat the word 'future' and 'money' quite frequently. To improve, try to use more synonyms and ensure your collocations are natural. Expanding your range of academic vocabulary will help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

Your writing contains several run-on sentences. For example, the first sentence is very long and lacks proper punctuation, making it difficult to read. You rely heavily on comma splices, connecting independent clauses with only a comma instead of a period or a semicolon. While you attempt some complex structures, the lack of punctuation control leads to frequent errors. To improve, focus on using shorter, clearer sentences and ensure you use full stops to separate distinct ideas. Mastering basic sentence boundaries is essential before moving on to more complex grammatical structures.
