Student answer (Band 5.5)

Nowadays, importance for saving money for every group except children have become an increasingly crucial issue in modern world. While some people believe that saving money is a better option to secure future, others argue that saving money is waste of time as everyone has to die. There are several factors that should be considered when discussing this issue. This essay will examine both perspectives before explaining why I believe that which option is right.

To begin with, one of the main reasons is uncertainty. This is mainly because there is no guarantee of anything bad happening is future or not. Daily we have to face different types of challenges, our daily life days are not same for instance you are going for job on daily basis and one day you notice your vehicle tire is puncture, and you do not have spare tire to change with. With some difficulties you arrive at a gas station and there they charge you for that instance you already are prepared, and you placed some extra change in your vehicle for emergency use only. This can have a significant impact on person's day. Furthermore, you can have met a great deal on a used car which is an upgrade for yourself by luck, and you do not have money to buy. Therefore, it is clear that money is important and you should save it.

On the other hand, another important point to consider is that this world is temporary everything in this world will mean nothing at a certain point. you should spend money to buy your favorite items, do not just save money. for instance, an old age person saving every cent daily and saving almost a million dollars at that it can only help him\her in covering hospital fees and medications. therefore, although saving money is important, and spending it properly remains an important factor to consider.

in conclusion, it is clear that saving money has both advantages and disadvantages. Although spending all money is wrong, I believe that savings should be made which can be useful in our daily challenges. taking everything into consideration I believe that saving money is very important. Therefore, if something bad happens, it could lead to more positive outcomes in the long term

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for saving money, such as handling emergencies and seizing opportunities, while acknowledging the counter-argument regarding the temporary nature of life. However, the development of ideas is somewhat uneven. The example regarding the flat tire is a bit anecdotal and could be more concisely expressed to allow for a more sophisticated discussion of financial planning. The conclusion is slightly repetitive, and the final sentence is somewhat vague in its connection to the prompt. To improve, ensure that each supporting point is fully explored with more academic depth rather than relying on personal scenarios.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear progression of ideas from the introduction to the conclusion. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' to signal shifts in your argument. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed, particularly in the second paragraph. Referencing is occasionally unclear, and some sentences lack smooth transitions. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a strong topic sentence would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, allowing you to express your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'uncertainty', 'emergency', and 'medications'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'daily life days are not same' and 'you can have met a great deal'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic synonyms will help you convey your arguments with greater nuance.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, they often contain grammatical errors, such as 'there is no guarantee of anything bad happening is future or not' and 'an old age person saving every cent'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several run-on sentences and missing commas. While these errors rarely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct preposition usage, and ensuring that your complex sentences are punctuated correctly to maintain clarity and grammatical accuracy.
