Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the argument regarding young people is mentioned but not fully explored with specific examples or logical depth. The paragraph discussing daily wage earners is slightly confusing, as it seems to contradict the main argument by suggesting saving is only for a specific group, rather than 'everyone' as the prompt requires. To improve, you should ensure that each paragraph directly supports your central thesis with more detailed explanations and concrete examples.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or slightly inaccurate. For example, the transition 'But there are some advantages...' at the start of the fourth paragraph is jarring and does not effectively link to the previous point. Additionally, some sentences lack logical flow, such as the concluding sentence which introduces new ideas ('lump-sump cash') rather than summarizing the main points. Improving the variety and precision of your linking words would significantly enhance the flow of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. You rely on repetitive phrasing such as 'save money for their future' and 'everyone'. There are also some awkward collocations and word choices, such as 'conveyance' to mean a vehicle, and 'economical crisis' instead of 'economic crisis'. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensuring that your word choices are contextually appropriate and natural.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'this essay demonstrate', 'everyone have'), missing articles (e.g., 'in future', 'buying own house'), and incorrect verb tenses (e.g., 'when will face'). While the meaning is generally understandable, these persistent errors prevent the writing from reaching a higher band. You should focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy, particularly with articles and subject-verb agreement.
