Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, focusing on financial emergencies and future goals like education and business ventures. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of why young people need to save for emergencies is repetitive, and the examples provided are quite generic. To reach a higher band, you should aim to expand your arguments with more specific, nuanced reasoning or deeper analysis of the long-term benefits of financial literacy for young people, rather than just listing potential expenses.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For instance', and 'As a result' to link ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly awkward, such as the repetitive use of 'moreover' and 'therefore' within the same paragraph. Additionally, there are instances where the flow between sentences is slightly disjointed due to grammatical errors. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring they are used naturally will help improve the overall cohesion of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary used is generally adequate for the task, but it lacks the range and precision required for a higher band. There are several instances of incorrect word choice or awkward phrasing, such as 'hold on asserts' (assets), 'storing the money' (saving), and 'crusial' (spelling error). You rely on basic vocabulary throughout the essay. To improve, you should focus on using more precise collocations and academic vocabulary related to finance, such as 'financial security', 'long-term investment', or 'fiscal responsibility', while ensuring correct spelling and usage.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'most of people are storing'), article usage (e.g., 'a young people'), and incorrect prepositional phrases (e.g., 'in abroad'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are persistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically articles and pluralization, and try to incorporate more complex structures like conditional sentences or relative clauses with greater accuracy.
