It is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future.
To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?
Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is argued that everyone including minors should save money for the upcoming years. I personally believe that this is a positive approach towards a better future as saving now will be helpful in bad times.
Money is the necessity in the modern age without it nothing could be done. From buying basic grocery items to paying school bills all we need is currency. Impulse buying will lead to wastage of the hard earned money. Being mindful of our choices will assist us in our hard times. One never knows what would happen in future, but planning our strategies now will help us alter on. For instance, Malala, who was a young girl living in a misoginist society in Pakistan was able to escape from there through the pocket money she once saved for herself.
On the other hand, there are people who disagree with this phenomenon because they believe no one knows what will happen in future and to enjoy the life to the fullest is their motive. But, this approach will not work in longer term. Consider a situation, in which a man has spent his entire earnings on meaningless things and when he gets older and has no energy to do work there would be no money in his bank account through which he can pay his bills.
In conclusion, saving money is potent to have a secure future for everyone living in this materialistic world. It is better to invest somewhere than to flaunt your money infront of others.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, such as the necessity of financial security and the risks of impulsive spending. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The example of Malala is a bit tenuous and not fully explained in the context of 'saving for the future' as a general financial strategy. The argument regarding the man who spends his earnings is a good hypothetical example, but the essay would benefit from more depth in explaining why young people specifically should start early, rather than just general adults. Overall, it covers all parts of the task well.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the main arguments. Cohesive devices are present, such as 'On the other hand' and 'In conclusion', though some transitions feel a bit mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'Consider a situation, in which...'. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a higher band. Referencing is mostly clear, though some phrasing is slightly repetitive.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at less common vocabulary, such as 'misoginist' (spelled incorrectly as 'misoginist' instead of 'misogynistic') and 'potent'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'alter on' (likely meaning 'later on') and 'flaunt your money infront of others'. While these errors do not impede communication, they indicate a need for more precise control over word choice and spelling.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors, such as 'Money is the necessity' (missing article), 'nothing could be done' (tense/modal usage), and 'in longer term' (missing article). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors, such as the comma usage in 'Consider a situation, in which'. While these errors are noticeable, they do not prevent the reader from understanding the message. To improve, the student should focus on article usage and consistent verb tense control.
