Student answer (Band 6.0)

Money plays an important role in building the future . Regardless of the age factor, saving money is significantly more important than spending it on unnecessary things. I largely agree that it is essential for every individual either he's young or old, to save money and spend the earns only on the basic needs soo that the money saved can be used in building a better future for one's own life or his children.

One major advantage of saving money is that it can be useful in providing your children with better education as it can be seen that the most of the expenses are going to the education sector. The advantage for the young people can be that they can develop their own startup with the money they saved.

Another important benefit is that saving money will mitigate the financial crises as the inflation has plummeted in recent years and it can be predicted that it will rise in the future as well. The living standards will gradually rise in the future and with the savings we can help our family through the financial difficulties which can rose due to inflation.

Moreover, with the savings we can also plan to go on a trip .For instance, Muslims can perform hajj or umrah with the money they have been saving.

In conclusion, I strongly believe that saving money is important regardless of age and gender and it is beneficial for our own future as it can help us through the hard times in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, such as education funding, startups, and financial security against inflation. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about 'inflation has plummeted' is factually confusing in the context of arguing for savings, as inflation usually refers to rising prices. The argument regarding 'trips' is less relevant to the core concept of long-term financial stability compared to the other points. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your arguments with more detailed explanations and ensure that your supporting examples are logically consistent with the main points.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'One major advantage', 'Another important benefit', and 'Moreover'. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences is occasionally interrupted by awkward phrasing. For example, the transition to the point about trips feels abrupt and less connected to the overall theme of 'future security'. Referencing is generally clear, but the paragraphing could be more balanced to ensure a smoother progression of ideas throughout the text.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are some attempts at using less common vocabulary, such as 'mitigate' and 'plummeted', although the latter is used incorrectly in context (inflation rising is the typical concern). There are also minor errors in word choice, such as 'spend the earns' instead of 'spend earnings' and 'can rose' instead of 'can rise'. To improve, focus on using collocations more accurately and refining the use of academic vocabulary to ensure it fits the specific context of your arguments.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the precision of the writing. Examples include 'either he's young or old' (should be 'whether one is young or old'), 'the most of the expenses' (should be 'most expenses'), and 'can rose' (should be 'can rise'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary spaces before periods. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement, correct tense usage, and refining the structure of complex sentences to ensure they are error-free.
