Student answer (Band 6.0)

As we move into the 21st century, it is a beneficial for all individuals including youngsters to save money for their future. Although young people have fewer financial responsibilities to compare with their parents. I strongly agree young generation should save money for the future. The explanation will be discussed in the upcoming paragraph with valid reasons and examples.

To begin with, saving money can help people with financial security during unexpected situations. To elaborate, sometimes person face emergency such as medical expenses, financial work, urgent household repairs. As a results, having some money as a saving can help person in their bad situations. For example, a young employee in Mumbai who regularly save a small amount of money from their salary. Therefore, they can use savings if they suddenly loss their job.

Furthermore, saving from an early age helps people achieve important future goals. Money may be required for

higher education, buying a home, started a business or travelling. For instance, young people in Singapore may save part their income for univercity studies and future home. As a result, it can reduce their dependance on family members.

On the other hand, some individuals think that young person should enjoy their income instead of saving too much because they have limited earning. This is understainable, but saving does not means avoiding all entertanment or spending.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that everyone, including young people should save money for the future. Although they should enjoy their presence life, regular saving can provide financial security and help them achieve important long-turm goals

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant and supported by examples, such as the mention of emergency medical expenses and long-term goals like education or home ownership. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. The example of the employee in Mumbai is a good start but lacks depth. To reach a higher band, the arguments could be more fully extended with more nuanced analysis of the economic or psychological benefits of saving. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, maintaining a consistent position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and sentence-level cohesion, such as the sentence 'As a results, having some money as a saving can help person in their bad situations', where the phrasing is slightly awkward. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'financial security', 'unexpected situations', and 'long-term goals'. However, there are several spelling errors (e.g., 'univercity', 'dependance', 'understainable', 'entertanment', 'long-turm') and some awkward collocations (e.g., 'financial work', 'presence life'). While these errors do not impede communication, they demonstrate a lack of precision that prevents a higher score. Expanding the range of vocabulary to include more sophisticated synonyms would improve the overall quality.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('a young employee', 'a saving'), pluralization ('young person' instead of 'young people'), and verb forms ('started a business' instead of 'starting a business'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are some sentence fragments and run-on issues. Despite these errors, the meaning is always clear, and the grammar does not significantly impede the reader's understanding. More attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage is needed for improvement.
