Student answer (Band 5.5)
Saving money is essential for everybody, including the young ones, so that the money can be used in future. This essay will examine the importance of saving money. As saving money can be advantageous in many situations and can help a person a lot.
As a person set aside some money for future use can be very helpful in future endeavors. A person can support himself in the time of hardships. Like starting a small business with saved money. With the money a person can buy mandatory things needed for business without borrowing money from anyone. For example, one of my friends has starting his own freelancing academy with the money he saved from his pocket money. And now that saved money is giving more and more profits to him.
Saved money can also provide relief in times of emergency. In my experience, the habit of saving money is a good thing. Once I was involved in car accident and my car was wrecked. I used my savings to restore my car's condition. So my savings helped me in that tense situation.
If the habit of saving money becomes too extreme, it can also cause problems. Not spending enough money on yourself , a person is deprived of the enjoyments of life. For example, if a group of friends are going on a trip, and you are staying behind just to save money, so a person is missing on an opportunity to make memories of life with friends. Therefore, sometimes it is also good to spend money instead of saving.
In conclusion, it is very important for everyone, including young people, to save money for future. As saving money is a good habit, and can help you in difficult situations, meanwhile, extreme of anything is always harmful even it is saving money.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The essay addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of saving money for young people and provides a balanced view by acknowledging the potential downsides of excessive frugality. The position is clear throughout. However, the development of ideas is somewhat basic. While you provide personal examples, such as the freelancing academy and the car accident, these could be expanded with more analytical depth to reach a higher band. The conclusion is a bit repetitive, merely restating the introduction rather than synthesizing the arguments. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph fully explores the implications of your points rather than just listing them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central theme. You use some cohesive devices such as 'For example', 'Therefore', and 'In conclusion' to link ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For instance, the transition between the benefits of saving and the potential problems of extreme saving could be smoother with more sophisticated linking phrases. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as the use of 'so a person' in the fourth paragraph, which disrupts the logical progression of the argument.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your meaning clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'future endeavors', 'hardships', and 'freelancing academy'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there is a tendency to repeat basic words like 'money' and 'saving' frequently. There are also minor collocation issues, such as 'has starting his own' (should be 'started') and 'extreme of anything' (should be 'the extreme of anything'). To achieve a higher score, try to incorporate more varied synonyms and precise academic collocations to demonstrate a wider lexical range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally distract the reader. Examples include 'As a person set aside some money' (should be 'setting aside'), 'one of my friends has starting' (should be 'started'), and 'even it is saving money' (should be 'even if it is'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. To improve, focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of verb tenses. Increasing the variety of complex sentence structures while ensuring they are error-free will help you move into the higher bands.
