Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing an opinion on saving money. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention investment and future security, the arguments are repetitive and lack depth. The counter-argument regarding spending money in one's youth is introduced but not effectively balanced or integrated into a cohesive argument. To improve, ensure each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed idea supported by clear reasoning or specific examples. The current response relies on general statements rather than a structured exploration of the topic, which limits the overall impact of your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, but the logical progression between them is weak. The use of cohesive devices is minimal and often mechanical, such as the repetitive use of 'If' to start sentences. Referencing is sometimes unclear, for example, 'that time where we can live our dream life' lacks a clear antecedent. The flow of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow the development of your argument. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'on the other hand') to connect your sentences and paragraphs more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple words like 'good', 'money', and 'save'. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'regret full' (regretful), 'saving bank', and 'spending money own our needs'. The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas precisely. To achieve a higher band, you should aim to use more academic collocations and precise terminology related to finance and personal development, while ensuring that your spelling and word forms are accurate.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'while saving money in your young age help you a lot' (subject-verb agreement), 'spending those money' (plural/singular error), and 'at every kind of age' (unnatural phrasing). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions, before attempting more complex structures.
