Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you clearly state your position, the essay is incomplete; the second paragraph ends abruptly mid-sentence, leaving the argument unfinished. The ideas presented, such as the importance of financial stability and the dangers of debt, are relevant but lack the depth and extension required for a higher band. To improve, ensure you complete your thoughts and provide a full conclusion to address all parts of the prompt thoroughly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow is hindered by the incomplete nature of the text. You use some cohesive devices like 'Moreover' and 'For example', but the logical progression is disrupted by the abrupt ending. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the phrase 'very think needs money', which makes the connection between ideas difficult to follow. To improve, focus on using a wider range of linking words and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, complete structure that leads logically to the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range expected at higher levels. There are several spelling errors, such as 'childern' instead of 'children', 'paly' for 'play', and 'wreath' instead of 'worth'. Additionally, there are word choice issues like 'unexpectable situation' (unexpected) and 'very think' (everything). To improve, focus on learning correct collocations and proofreading for common spelling mistakes. Expanding your vocabulary to include more academic terms related to finance would also be beneficial.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede communication. Examples include 'very one' (everyone), 'Their are living' (They are living), and 'One of my friend' (One of my friends). There is also a lack of control over sentence structure, particularly with the incomplete sentence at the end of the second paragraph. While you attempt some complex structures, the high frequency of errors in basic grammar, such as subject-verb agreement and article usage, limits the score. Focus on mastering basic sentence construction before attempting more complex forms.
