Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is widely believed that saving money for upcoming future is crucial, not only for everybody but also for youngsters. I completely agree with this statement. Because it assists people in several ways and I will discuss it in essay

In today’s world, there is no doubt that money hold more power than any other thing, which makes it more pivotal. That is why it is suggested that people should save money for future. Individual tend live in present, therefore, they spend more of their salaries without any hesitation and not realising about the need of money in the future. For instance, western countries do not have a culture of saving money, most of their salaries they spend on leisure on the weekends. Consequently, they have to face financial challenges when they need it more for the major needs.

Similarly, saving money play significant role in young individuals future life. Firstly, at this stage they can save money for their university study. Thus, they do not need to rely on their parents for fees. Secondly, they can learn how to save and manage money when they become a parents themselves. Because that is the time when they have to handle all responsibilities regarding money and family. This may facilitate them to manage finances without a stress.

In conclusion, in my perspective saving money is vital skill that everyone should acquire. To avoid financial issues in future adults should keep it safe for any kind of problems such as medical ailments. Same thing applies for young people they should learn how to save money at their initial young age. By this they can save money for their higher academic studies.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, such as financial independence for students and future family management. However, the development is somewhat limited. For instance, the example regarding 'western countries' is a broad generalization that lacks specific evidence or nuance. While the main points are clear, they could be extended further with more detailed explanations or concrete examples to reach a higher band. The conclusion effectively summarizes the main points, maintaining a consistent position throughout the essay.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Firstly', 'Secondly', 'Consequently', and 'In conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel slightly mechanical or repetitive. Additionally, there are minor issues with referencing and flow, such as the phrase 'I will discuss it in essay' in the introduction, which is a bit informal and awkward. Overall, the progression of ideas is logical, and the paragraphing is appropriate for the task.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'financial challenges', 'financial independence', and 'medical ailments'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are occasional errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'money hold more power' (should be 'holds') and 'at their initial young age' (which is redundant). To improve, the student should focus on using more precise collocations and a wider variety of academic vocabulary to express complex ideas more fluently.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that affect the accuracy of the writing. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('money hold', 'saving money play'), missing articles ('in future', 'at this stage'), and awkward phrasing ('Individual tend live in present'). While these errors do not impede communication, they are persistent throughout the text. To reach a higher band, the student needs to demonstrate better control over basic grammar, particularly articles, pluralization, and subject-verb agreement, while continuing to practice complex sentence forms.
