Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, reaching only 149 words. This significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you state a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and lack sufficient explanation or relevant examples. The points regarding business losses and health expenses are mentioned but not expanded upon in a way that demonstrates a clear, logical argument. To improve, you must extend your points by explaining the 'why' and 'how' behind your claims and ensure you meet the length requirement to allow for full development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which is a positive step. However, the progression of ideas is limited by the brevity of the text. Cohesive devices are used in a very basic and repetitive manner, such as starting sentences with 'It also help' or 'For example'. The logical flow between sentences is often disjointed, making the text feel like a list of points rather than a cohesive argument. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words (e.g., 'furthermore', 'consequently', 'in contrast') to connect your ideas more fluidly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive, which restricts your ability to express complex ideas. There are frequent spelling errors, such as 'espesally' (especially), 'buissenes' (business), 'desiease' (disease), 'madicines' (medicines), and 'viset' (visit). These errors, combined with basic word choices, make the writing feel simplistic. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic words and try to incorporate more precise vocabulary related to finance and personal development to demonstrate a broader range.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.5
The grammar is characterized by frequent errors in subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'it help' instead of 'it helps'), tense usage, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or lack proper punctuation, which hinders clarity. There is a lack of complex sentence structures, as most sentences are simple or contain errors that impede the reader's understanding. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically subject-verb agreement and consistent verb tenses, before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
