Student answer (Band 6.0)

People of all ages especially young and older ones should save their earnings as it is very essential for their future life. I partially agree with this as it depends on the purpose for which you are saving ,one should save money for future emergencies ,for buying something you love or achieving a goal ,on the other hand one should not become so desperate that he doesn't even spend on his daily essentials.

People of all ages should learn managing their expenses. One should definitely divide his earnings based on his income. He shouldn't spend it recklessly. He must have plan, as one must keep in his mind that any emergency can occur unexpectedly in the life. So he must have something saved as a backup to go past that difficult time. Like any medical problem can occur if you don't have saved enough you might end up with permanent damage if you don't get treatment on time due to insufficient funds. Similarly young ones can save early and pay for their tuitions and self support them without burdening their parents.

Meanwhile, one should not be too greedy that he saves everything and does not spend money even on his daily needs. We must have a goal for saving otherwise we will always be saving and wouldn't enjoy the life. Which would ultimately become the reason for stress and resulting in a poor mental health. People should treat themselves once in a while so they could feel refreshed and motivated to earn more while managing their expenses and earnings and planning for their future needs.

In conclusion, we should not spend too recklessly or save too desperately rather we should maintain a balance between both. We should plan our expenses and save a fixed amount on monthly basis while treating yourself with something nice a few times a month. This will have positive impact on your physical and mental life.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, providing a clear position that saving is important but must be balanced with current needs. The ideas are relevant and supported with examples, such as the mention of medical emergencies and tuition fees. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. To reach a higher band, you should expand on the 'why' and 'how' of your arguments with more depth. For instance, instead of just mentioning medical problems, you could discuss the broader economic implications of financial literacy for young people. The position is consistent throughout, and the conclusion effectively summarizes your stance.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. You use some cohesive devices, such as 'on the other hand', 'similarly', and 'in conclusion', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical or repetitive. The use of referencing is generally clear, though some sentences are slightly fragmented, which affects the flow. To improve, try to use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that the relationship between sentences is more fluid. Overall, the progression of ideas is easy to follow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'recklessly', 'insufficient', and 'motivated'. However, the vocabulary is somewhat limited and occasionally repetitive. There are some minor issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'self support them' (should be 'support themselves') and 'mental life' (should be 'mental health'). To achieve a higher score, aim to incorporate more precise, less common lexical items and ensure that your collocations are natural. The current vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, but it lacks the sophistication required for higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the life'), subject-verb agreement, and punctuation. For example, 'He must have plan' is missing an article, and there are several run-on sentences or comma splices, such as 'He shouldn't spend it recklessly. He must have plan, as one must keep in his mind...'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for small errors like missing articles and prepositions.
