Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, clearly stating a position in the introduction and maintaining it throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on financial security and discipline. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat basic. For instance, the examples provided, such as 'buying bike or cars', are a bit simplistic and could be expanded upon to demonstrate a more sophisticated understanding of the topic. While the position is clear, the supporting arguments lack the depth required for a higher band score, as they tend to repeat the same points about independence and security without exploring broader economic or social implications.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In addition', 'For example', and 'As a result', which help the flow of ideas. However, there is some mechanical use of these devices, and occasionally the transition between sentences feels slightly disjointed. For example, the phrase 'As a out come' is used incorrectly, and the referencing within the second paragraph is a bit repetitive. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the overall progression of ideas could be smoother to achieve a higher level of cohesion.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks variety and precision. The student relies on common phrases like 'save money', 'financial security', and 'good habit'. There are some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'saving their money from young age' instead of 'from a young age' and 'As a out come' instead of 'As a result' or 'Consequently'. While the meaning is always clear, the range of vocabulary is limited, and there is little evidence of less common or idiomatic language that would demonstrate a higher level of lexical control.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and article usage (e.g., 'One of the main reason', 'a young individuals'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with unnecessary commas appearing in several places, such as 'Another vital reason is that, people who...'. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching a higher band. The control over complex structures is not yet consistent enough for a 7.0.
