Student answer (Band 6.0)

These days some people seem to argue that the concept of saving money for future is recommended for everyone including younger generation as it helps somewhere in their upcoming life. On the other hand, others are opposed against this trend. However, I completely agree with the idea that saving money in different forms play a crucial role in human's life. There are certain reason of my opinion which i wish to highlight in the essay.

In the first place, it would be quite interesting to note that saved assets contribute an individual lfie in any kind of health urgency. It might be possible that people can face any health related issue in their life so it is the ideal way for individuals can utilise their saved money and admit in a qualified hospital where they can recover from health damages. One illustration for this is that, if a person don't save any money. It may be difficult for him to survive and cope in that scenerio. Another major reason for this side of the topic seem to be that money reserves often help for those people who face unemployment issues. As it can make lfie little bit easier for jobless persons because they can fulfill their needs with savings. Untill they can get a new job offer.

To put this issue into third perspective the most important point which is worth considering is that, preserves also make younger generation life easier as they can invest their savings on education or learn multiple skill from this they can achieve their objectives such as getting a high paid job. This would make then a young student success in their life.

In conclusion, I am convinced to say that it is indeed a debatable issue which need further analysis and discussion. However, in the light of above-discussed arguments and examples. It would be quite safe to conclude that the advantages of saving money outweigh its disadvantages in many aspects.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The essay addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas are relevant, focusing on health emergencies, unemployment, and education. However, the development is somewhat limited; for instance, the explanation of how savings help with unemployment is a bit repetitive, and the third paragraph is quite brief. While the main points are clear, they could be extended with more specific, real-world examples to reach a higher band. The conclusion is slightly contradictory, as it labels the topic as 'debatable' despite the clear stance taken in the introduction. Overall, the response covers all parts of the task well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each with a distinct focus. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'In the first place,' 'Another major reason,' and 'In conclusion,' which help guide the reader. However, some transitions are mechanical or slightly awkward, such as 'To put this issue into third perspective.' Additionally, there are some issues with referencing and sentence-level cohesion, such as the fragmented sentence 'If a person don't save any money. It may be difficult...' where the punctuation disrupts the flow. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but the paragraphing could be more sophisticated.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'assets,' 'health urgency,' and 'unemployment issues.' However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and collocation errors, such as 'recover from health damages' (should be 'recover from illness' or 'medical expenses') and 'preserves' (likely meant 'reserves' or 'savings'). The range is sufficient to communicate the message, but the lack of precision and occasional misuse of words prevents a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the writer attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede readability. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('if a person don't save,' 'reasons... seem to be'), punctuation errors (sentence fragments), and awkward phrasing ('make then a young student success'). While the meaning is usually clear, the frequency of these errors is noticeable. To improve, the writer should focus on basic subject-verb agreement and ensuring that complex sentences are punctuated correctly to avoid fragments.
