Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. However, the development of ideas is inconsistent. While you mention the importance of saving for emergencies and education, the discussion regarding investment types (stocks, mutual funds) is somewhat tangential and distracts from the core argument about the necessity of saving for the future. The explanation of why young people specifically should save is somewhat under-developed, relying heavily on the idea that parents should teach them rather than exploring the benefits of financial independence for the youth themselves. To improve, ensure each paragraph directly supports your main thesis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the flow between ideas is often mechanical or disjointed. You use some cohesive devices like 'To begin with' and 'Moreover', but the internal structure of the paragraphs is weak. For example, the second paragraph contains a long, run-on sentence that jumps between parental savings, investment types, and bank interest rates, making it difficult to follow the logical progression. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the transition between the concept of 'luxury items' and 'future emergencies' in the third paragraph is abrupt. Better use of linking words and clearer sentence boundaries would improve the overall coherence.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary range is limited and often repetitive. You frequently use basic terms like 'money', 'save', and 'things'. There are also several instances of incorrect word choice or awkward collocations, such as 'counts are limited' (instead of needs), 'stoke' (instead of stocks), and 'lover' (instead of lower). While the meaning is generally conveyed, the lack of precision and the presence of spelling errors (e.g., 'habbit', 'onces', 'futher') indicate a need for a wider range of vocabulary and more attention to accurate spelling and word formation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay relies heavily on simple sentence structures and contains frequent grammatical errors. There are significant issues with subject-verb agreement, such as 'youngsters are not save money' and 'the level of risk are high'. Punctuation is also problematic, with many sentences being comma-spliced or lacking necessary full stops, leading to run-on sentences that impede readability. While you attempt some complex ideas, the lack of control over basic grammar and sentence construction significantly affects the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic sentence structure and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would be highly beneficial.
