Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that it is important for young people to save money for their future. While some people believe that money should be utilize and it is for spending and to fulfill their needs of life at a certain time period. This is mainly because of faith of the people.

The primary reason why I agree with the point of saving is that, people can not predict their future. In other words life is not as same as we planned. This is particularly important because in old age people are often not able to earn enough money to secure their health and to pay their other utilities easily. For example, if an old man that never saves the money, he might get into serious health issue or disease he will not able to buy a health insurance that can cause serious health issue.

Another significant reason for my position is that in old age people needs to be relax and spend their quality time. This means that saved money assist them in it. As a result they secured their future for a safe side. For instance, if people starts saving in a case of buying mortgage plan, it helps them in old age where they do not have any stress of accommodations, because mortgage take many years to be completed. Hence, I totally agree in saving the money for every one on a right time for the peaceful and secure future.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that saved money can assist you somewhere in your life where people get stuck and find no one to help. Therefore, I do believe in faith but I prefer not to relay on destiny instead of taking obligatory actions before time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding financial security in old age and the ability to afford healthcare are relevant. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the explanation of the mortgage example is slightly confusing and lacks depth. While the position is consistent, the essay would benefit from more sophisticated reasoning to fully explore the implications of saving versus spending. The conclusion effectively restates the position, though it introduces a slightly tangential point about 'faith' and 'destiny' which was not fully integrated into the main body paragraphs.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central focus. Cohesive devices such as 'The primary reason', 'Another significant reason', and 'In conclusion' are used to guide the reader. However, the flow within paragraphs is occasionally hindered by awkward phrasing, such as 'This is mainly because of faith of the people' in the introduction, which lacks a clear connection to the previous sentence. Additionally, some referencing is slightly mechanical. Improving the transition between sentences would help the ideas progress more smoothly and naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to convey their meaning clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'mortgage plan', 'health insurance', and 'obligatory actions'. However, there are some inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'money should be utilize' (should be utilized) and 'on a right time' (at the right time). The range is somewhat limited, and the repetition of basic structures and vocabulary prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. More precise synonyms would enhance the quality of the writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms ('if people starts saving'), articles ('the money'), and sentence fragments ('if an old man that never saves the money, he might get into serious health issue'). These errors are noticeable and occasionally distract the reader, though they do not completely impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles and prepositions.
