Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding financial security and long-term goals are relevant and well-supported with examples like medical expenses and education costs. However, the third paragraph is slightly underdeveloped and contains a minor logical inconsistency; while you acknowledge the counter-argument about spending, the transition to your conclusion is a bit abrupt. To reach a higher band, ensure that the counter-argument is more fully integrated into the overall flow of the essay rather than appearing as a separate, slightly disconnected point. Overall, the ideas are relevant and the position is consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical or awkward, such as 'Explaining some of another supporting points in favour of this statement', which is grammatically clunky and disrupts the flow. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the internal cohesion within the third paragraph could be improved to better link the counter-argument to your main thesis. The progression of ideas is generally clear, but more sophisticated linking phrases would enhance the overall coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is adequate for the task and allows for clear communication. You use some topic-specific terms like 'financial stability', 'unexpected situations', and 'long-term goals'. However, there are some minor errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'urgent households repair' (should be 'urgent household repairs') and 'prefer their future financial well-being' (should be 'prioritize'). The range of vocabulary is sufficient but lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and avoiding repetitive phrasing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'Some people should save a large amount money' (missing 'of'), 'help people to achieve' (should be 'helps'), and 'financial , independence' (incorrect comma usage). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with several instances of spaces before commas. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring accuracy in subject-verb agreement and punctuation will help improve this score.
