Student answer (Band 5.5)

In todays society money is very important thing, so every person should start saving it for the future, including youngsters. Saving money helps people in difficult and tough times so, I completely agree with this statement.

Money is very essential part in community. If we save money for the future it would be very useful in coming days not only for us but also for our next generations. For example, in recent Corona pandemic, many people suffered due to lack of money and lots of people lost their life as they could not even afford basic needs. If they had saved money for the future it would have been really helpful in such pandemic. If people saved money then it would also be useful for some major illness in future, or for kids college.

Furthermore, young people should make a habit of saving money. Most of todays youngsters care less about future and try to enjoy in present. If they don't start saving they are more likely to suffer in coming futures. For example, Young people without a habit of saving money are more vulnerable to pandemic like Corona which lasted for more than a year. They should learn saving from China. Chinese people save most of their money for future usage, as they have suffered in past and have learnt a lesson of saving money.

In conclusion, if people specially young ones want to survive in future they should start saving money for future. It would help them in their difficult times and pandemics so I totally agree with view.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant reasons for your agreement, such as the need for financial security during crises like the pandemic and the importance of planning for future expenses like education. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive. For instance, the mention of the pandemic is used in both the second and third paragraphs, which limits the depth of your argument. To reach a higher band, try to expand on different aspects of financial planning, such as investment or long-term wealth creation, rather than focusing primarily on emergency savings.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'For example', and 'In conclusion' to link your ideas. However, the flow between sentences is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel abrupt. For example, the transition to the example about China in the third paragraph is slightly disconnected from the previous sentence about young people. Improving the variety of your linking words and ensuring that each sentence flows naturally into the next would enhance the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your ideas clearly. You use some topic-specific terms like 'financial security' or 'basic needs'. However, there is a reliance on basic vocabulary and some repetitive phrasing, such as 'save money' and 'for the future', which appear frequently. To improve, try to incorporate more sophisticated synonyms and collocations. For example, instead of repeating 'save money', you could use terms like 'accumulate savings', 'set aside funds', or 'financial prudence'. Additionally, watch for minor word-choice errors, such as 'essential part in community' which should be 'essential part of society'.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While your meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('in recent Corona pandemic' should be 'in the recent Corona pandemic') and pluralization ('kids college' should be 'children's college'). There are also issues with punctuation and sentence fragments. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and the correct use of articles will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
