Student answer (Band 7.0)

it is often argued that everyone, including younger generation should save money for future. I strongly agree with this statement, as saving money give financial security to adults to meet unforeseen needs or in case financial emergency whereas for younger people it helps them to achieve their future goals.

First of all, saving money gives financial security. Young people may have lesser liabilities when they start earning which enables them to develop a good habit of saving for the future. If they gradually put aside some proportion of their income, they would have strong financial reserve. This can be particularly useful when they plan to purchase a house or to study abroad.

Another important reason for saving money is unexpected situations which can occur anytime. People may lose their jobs, experience financial difficulty or to pay for the repairs. Without savings, they may have to borrow money from banks or other people, which can lead to debt and financial stress. In contrast, having an emergency fund allows individuals to manage such situations without seriously affecting their daily lives.

However, I do not believe that young people should save every penny and avoid spending money on themselves. Youth is also a time when people can benefit from travelling, developing hobbies and enjoying experiences with friends and family. Spending a reasonable amount on these activities can contribute to personal development and happiness. Therefore, the most sensible approach is to maintain a balance between saving and responsible spending.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that everyone, including young people, should save money for the future. Savings can provide financial stability, protect people from unexpected difficulties and help them achieve long-term goals. Nevertheless, young people should also enjoy the present by spending a reasonable amount of their income on valuable experiences.
