Student answer (Band 5.5)

Savings are considered as one of the most essential practice and the income for the future. I completely agree that saving money is important for everyone including young people as savings can help you in your hard time.

The most concerning and the challenging part, which has now become a trend is spending money on the products which an individual might not need. People usually spend money on the luxury and premium products which they might not use on their regular basis. If an individual cannot afford it with his or her current remuneration, they tend to use credit card or uses the overdraft facilities offerd by bank. But one needs to understand that, is that products really a need for them, is it possible to survive without that product or not. Saving is an important practice that once should integrate in their life. But in some cases, saving may not be possible because at that perticular time one may need to spend it for the appropriate use.

Saving money should be done by every one including young people as it will help to grow in life and it can act as your companian in tough time. For instance, a research was conducted on a group of people reveals that if savings is practiced from the young age it helps to achieve financial independence and reduces the stress of saving money in the older age.

In conclusion, Saving is the most essential practice that one should integrate in their life as saving will be act as a companian and it can help in the harder time. In addition to this, it helps to achieve financial goals more quickly.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The essay addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position in favor of saving money. The ideas are relevant, particularly the discussion on consumerism and the benefits of early financial planning. However, the development is somewhat limited. The example provided regarding research is vague and lacks specific detail, which prevents the argument from reaching a higher band. While the position is consistent, the supporting points could be more thoroughly explored to provide a more comprehensive response to the 'to what extent' aspect of the prompt.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. There is a progression of ideas from the introduction to the body paragraphs and the conclusion. However, the use of cohesive devices is somewhat mechanical and repetitive. For example, the phrase 'In addition to this' and 'But' are used frequently. Some transitions between sentences feel slightly abrupt, and the referencing (e.g., 'that products') is occasionally imprecise, which affects the flow of the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are some attempts at more sophisticated vocabulary, such as 'remuneration' and 'financial independence'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choices and minor errors, such as 'essential practice' (should be 'essential practice' or 'essential habit'), 'perticular' (spelling error), and 'companian' (spelling error). The range is sufficient to communicate, but lacks the precision and flexibility required for a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('savings is practiced', 'saving will be act as'), incorrect article usage, and punctuation errors. These errors do not impede communication, but they are frequent enough to prevent the essay from reaching the 7.0 band. Greater attention to verb forms and sentence construction would improve the overall accuracy.
