Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is often debated that saving money for the future by all age groups, including young adults, is significant. I firmly agree with this notion, as saving money can provide many benefits in later life.
Firstly, life is very unpredictable, and there are many uncertainties regarding job security and income generation in today's world due to fewer job demands and the increasing use of Artificial intelligence. Therefore, having a safety net to rely on when times get difficult is crucial. Saving money in early life is a great way to build this safety net; the more money you save, the bigger your safety net is. Moreover, saving money is a great way to build a retirement plan. Separating money from monthly income at a younger age and adding it to a retirement plan can allow an individual to retire early; later, that money can be kept as savings or invested to make a profit. The possibilities of using saved money are endless.
Nevertheless, some people believe in the idea that you only live once and prefer to spend the money they have earned and spoil themselves. However, I believe saving up before spending is more mindful, and a large amount of savings can facilitate buying something that has been on your bucket list for a long period of time. For instance, a 40-year-old can be ableto buy his dream car because he saved money since he was 20. Furthermore, people tend to save money to have a better life in the future, provide an expensive, well-rounded home for their families, and live comfortably in their later years. If individuals begin saving in their early years, they will not have to worry about earning enough when they build a family and can fall back on savings to provide luxuries to their loved ones.
To sum up, although some people do not think it is essential to save money for the future, I believe that it provides a great opportunity to build a better life, as life is dynamic and a safety net can go a long way.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have addressed all parts of the prompt, clearly stating your agreement and providing relevant reasons. Your position is consistent throughout the essay. The ideas are well-developed, particularly the points regarding job security and the benefits of long-term financial planning. To reach a higher band, ensure that your examples are slightly more specific; for instance, while the '40-year-old' example is good, you could further elaborate on how the habit of saving specifically impacts the quality of life or societal stability. Overall, the response is well-structured and directly answers the question asked.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a variety of cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Moreover', 'Nevertheless', and 'Furthermore' to guide the reader through your arguments. The progression of ideas is smooth, moving from the necessity of a safety net to the benefits of retirement planning and finally addressing the counter-argument. Paragraphing is used effectively to separate distinct points. The flow is natural, and the relationship between sentences is clear, meeting the requirements for a high band in this criterion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate a good range of vocabulary, using terms like 'unpredictable', 'uncertainties', 'income generation', and 'well-rounded' appropriately. There is an attempt to use less common lexical items, which adds precision to your writing. While the vocabulary is generally accurate, there are minor instances where word choice could be more sophisticated, such as 'spoil themselves' or 'make a profit'. However, these do not impede communication. To improve, focus on using more academic collocations and avoiding slightly informal phrasing to elevate the tone of your essay further.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures effectively. Most of your sentences are error-free, and your control over punctuation is generally good. There are a few minor slips, such as 'can be able to' (which is redundant; use 'will be able to' or 'can') and some minor phrasing issues. However, these errors are infrequent and do not interfere with the clarity of your message. You show a good command of complex structures, such as conditional sentences ('If individuals begin saving... they will not have to worry'), which supports a strong score.
