Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is an ongoing debate in the market where some people believe that it is important for everyone to save money for their future including youngsters. On the other hand, the rest believes that it is not required. I definitely agree with the statement that everyone should save money.
To begin with, financial saving is beneficial for future planning. If a youngster wishes to spend their money for greater causes it is good to save it for now and then use it in the near future when the timing is right. For instance, a person wants to buy a house. If he has the money he can buy it immediately on finance or if he cannot do down payment he can take it on lease which can go from his savings. Without any savings the situation will become stressful but if the person is saving from the beginning he will have a significant amount to handle it.
Moreover, having savings also helps in emergency situations. If a person get seriously ill or an accident occurs , he can use the savings for the treatment. Otherwise the situation will become a whole lot to handle with no where to go. In addition to this, if due to some circumstances the person loses his source of income and is in search for the new one, the savings will become the source for the time being protecting the mental well being of the individual and the lingering tension of not having anything at hand. It helps like a secret stash for the time being.
To conclude, even though some may believe that earning and spending at the same time and enjoying riches of the life is a good purpose, i believe that having savings is a boon in critical situations. Everyone should earn , spend and definitely save money for the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The ideas regarding financial planning and emergency preparedness are relevant and logically extended. However, the development is somewhat repetitive, particularly in the second body paragraph where the focus on 'emergency situations' and 'loss of income' overlaps. To reach a higher band, the arguments could be more distinct and supported by more varied examples. The introduction and conclusion are clear, though the opening sentence is slightly generic. Overall, the response is well-focused on the topic of saving money for the future.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In addition to this' are used to guide the reader. However, some transitions are slightly mechanical, and there are minor issues with referencing, such as the vague use of 'it' in the second paragraph. The progression of ideas is generally smooth, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect sentences more naturally.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'financial planning', 'down payment', and 'source of income'. However, the range is somewhat limited, and there are instances of slightly unnatural collocations, such as 'enjoying riches of the life' and 'lingering tension'. The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and sophistication required for higher bands. Improving the variety of synonyms and using more idiomatic expressions would enhance the lexical quality.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The student uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are several grammatical errors, such as subject-verb agreement issues ('the rest believes', 'a person get seriously ill') and punctuation errors (missing spaces before commas). Some complex sentences are slightly awkward, such as the conditional structure in the second paragraph. The majority of sentences are understandable, but the frequency of minor errors prevents a higher score. Focusing on consistent subject-verb agreement and refining punctuation would significantly improve the overall accuracy of the writing.
