It is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future.

Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.
Student answer (Band 6.5)
Saving money is an important financial habit that can provide security and stability in the future. I completely agree that everyone, including young people, should save a portion of their income because it can help them deal with unexpected expenses and achieve their future goals.
Firstly, saving money can help people deal with unexpected financial problems. Life is unpredictable, and people may suddenly face expenses such as medical bills, unemployment or urgent repairs. If individuals have some savings, they can manage these situations without depending on others or taking loans. For example, a young employee who regularly saves part of his salary can use these savings if he loses his job or needs emergency medical treatment. Therefore, developing the habit of saving from a young age can provide financial security during difficult times.
Secondly, saving money allows young people to achieve their future goals and become financially independent. Many young adults want to pursue higher education, buy a house, start a business or travel abroad, all of which require considerable amounts of money. By saving regularly, they can gradually build enough funds to achieve these goals. For instance, a university student who saves a small amount of money every month may eventually have enough funds to pay for a professional course or further education.
In conclusion, I completely agree that everyone, including young people, should save money for the future. Regular savings can provide financial protection during emergencies and help individuals achieve their long-term goals without relying heavily on others.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response clearly addresses all parts of the task by taking a firm position ("I completely agree that everyone, including young people, should save a portion of their income") and maintaining it throughout the essay. The student develops two main supporting body paragraphs that explore different aspects of the argument: dealing with unexpected financial problems and achieving future goals. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as the mention of a young employee saving for medical emergencies or job loss, and a university student saving for further education. The position is well-developed, and the response thoroughly answers the prompt, fitting the Band 7 level comfortably.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay displays clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, introduced with clear cohesive markers such as "Firstly" and "Secondly," and concluded neatly. Cohesive devices are used effectively without being overly mechanical, ensuring that ideas flow logically from sentences to paragraphs. For instance, the transition from general statements to specific examples in the body paragraphs is smooth and natural. Paragraphing is used sufficiently and appropriately, separating the introduction, two body paragraphs, and the conclusion. The progression of thought is easy to follow, making this a solid Band 7 performance.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary for the task with some flexibility and precision, employing appropriate collocations such as "unexpected expenses," "financial security," "financially independent," and "professional course." While the vocabulary is largely standard and safe rather than ambitious, it suits the formal tone of an academic essay well. There are no notable spelling or word-choice errors that impede communication. The use of less common items like "unpredictable," "gradually build," and "long-term goals" shows an adequate grasp of lexical control, aligning closely with Band 6.5 to Band 7 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The writer demonstrates a good mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There is effective use of subordinate clauses and conditional elements, such as in the sentence: "If individuals have some savings, they can manage these situations without depending on others or taking loans." Grammatical control is generally strong, and punctuation is accurate throughout. The majority of sentences are error-free, and any complex structures attempted are handled well without causing confusion for the reader. While a wider variety of more sophisticated structures could elevate the score further, the current level of accuracy and range warrants a steady Band 7.
