Student answer (Band 5.5)

IN RECENT YEARS, EVERYONE SAYS WE SHOULD SAVE MONEY INCLUDING YOUNG BECAUSE IT WOULD BE HELPFUL FOR OUR FUTURE. EVERONE HAS THEIR OWN OPINION WETHER THEY AGREE OR NOT AGREE OF THIS POINT OF VIEW. IN MY POINT OF VIEW, I AGREE THIS STATEMENT. IN THIS ESSAY WE WILL DISCUSS WITH REASONS.

ONE THE ONE HAND, WE SHOULD SAVE MONEY FOR FUTURE BECAUSE IT CAN HELP US THE COMING FUTURE PROBLEMS. FOR EXAMPLE ONE OF OUR FAIMLY MEMBER SERIOUSLY ILLED AND WE NEED A HUGE AMOUNT OF MONEY FOT THIS TREATMENT. ADDITIONALLY, AS WE KNOW INFLATION RATE ARE INCREASING DAY BY DAY AND ALSO UNEMPLOYMENT RATIO IS HIGH. BY OUR SAVING WE CAN DO A SMALL BUSSINESS BECAUSE IT COULD BE HELPFUL FOR FAIMLY AND IT IS LONG TERM WORK. DUE TO DOING THE WE CAN SAOLVE OUR FINANCIALL STATUS AND WE NEVER FACE CHALLENGES.

IN ADDITION, YOUNG PEOPLE ARE ALSO ADVICED TO SAVE MONEY FOR THEIR FUTURE. THE FIRST REASON IS THAT THE POPULATION OF WORLD INCREASING RAPIDLY. THERE A LOT OF YOUNG GRADUATES WO ARE LOOKING FOR JOB BUT THEY DON'T GET JOB DUE TO NON EXPERIENCE AND ONE IMPORTANT THIS NO REFERENCE OF ANYONE.

OTHER MAIN REASON IS WHY YOUNG PEOPLE SHOULD SAVE MONEY FOR THEIR FUTURE. EVERYONE WHO'S STUDYING IN UNIVERSITY, THEY HAD DREAM THEY WILL DO THEIR HIGHER EDUCATION FROM USA, UK AND EUROPE. BUT THE EXPENSES OF THESE COUNTRIES ARE VERY HIGH. IF YOUNG PEOPLE SAVE MONEY THEN THEY CAN DO THEIR STUDY IN THOSE COUNTRIES FOR BETTER FUTURE.

IN CONCLUSION EVERYONE SAVE MONEY FOR FUTURE. IN MY PERSONAL PERSPECTIVE SPECIALLY YOUNG PEOPLE SAVES MONEY FOR THEIR DAILY EXPENSES AND SOCIAL LIFE.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position agreeing that saving money is important for everyone, including young people. The writer attempts to support this position with several reasons, such as handling unexpected medical emergencies, combating inflation, and funding education abroad or starting a small business. However, some ideas are repetitive or underdeveloped, such as the points regarding unemployment and lack of experience. While the main aspects of the prompt are covered, the development of ideas lacks depth and specific supporting evidence beyond vague generalisations. According to the Band 6 descriptors, the task is addressed with relevant ideas, though some parts are under-developed. Therefore, a band score of 6.0 is appropriate.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a logical overall arrangement with paragraphing used to separate distinct ideas, such as general reasons for saving in the first body paragraph and specific reasons for young people in the subsequent paragraphs. However, cohesion is frequently faulty or mechanical, evidenced by abrupt transitions like 'ONE THE ONE HAND', 'IN ADDITION', and 'OTHER MAIN REASON IS WHY'. Referencing and logical progression are sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and missing linking words. Paragraphing is present, but internal cohesion within paragraphs lacks smooth flow. This matches the Band 5 to 6 range, leaning towards Band 5.5 due to the mechanical and repetitive use of cohesive devices.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The student uses an adequate vocabulary range for the task, attempting some less common words and phrases such as 'inflation rate', 'unemployment ratio', and 'financial status'. However, there are numerous noticeable spelling errors ('EVERONE', 'WETHER', 'FAIMLY', 'ILLED', 'FOT', 'BUSSINESS', 'SAOLVE', 'FINANCIALL', 'ADVICED', 'WO', 'SPECIALLY') and inappropriate word choices ('DUE TO DOING THE WE CAN SAOLVE'). These errors occasionally cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited ability to handle word formation and spelling consistently. This performance aligns closely with the Band 5 descriptors, where lexical limitations and frequent spelling errors are prominent.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as conditional structures ('IF YOUNG PEOPLE SAVE MONEY THEN THEY CAN DO THEIR STUDY') and relative clauses. However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('inflation rate are'), tense usage ('EVERYONE WHO'S STUDYING... THEY HAD DREAM'), prepositional errors, and missing articles ('DUE TO NON EXPERIENCE', 'NO REFERENCE OF ANYONE'). These errors occur throughout the text and frequently strain the reader, although communication is generally maintained. The control over grammar is characteristic of Band 5, where frequent errors in complex sentences persist and cause difficulty.
