Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The student addresses the prompt by clearly stating a position agreeing with the importance of saving money for the future. Ideas are presented regarding basic needs, health emergencies, and investments. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks specific, well-articulated examples, often relying on vague generalisations such as 'bought the medicines and nutrients diet food' or 'brings a lots of happy and sorrow'. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the support remains limited and superficial, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The response is organized into paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. However, the overall progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and weak cohesive devices. The use of transition phrases such as 'on the one hand' and 'On the another hand' is mechanically applied and structurally flawed ('another' instead of 'other'). Referencing is sometimes unclear, and paragraphing is visibly mismanaged, with disjointed sentences. These issues reflect the descriptors for Band 5.0, where organization is present but overall progression lacks clarity.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, frequently reusing terms like 'future', 'save money', and 'survival'. There are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'young people' being referred to as 'every young people', 'fast paced society everyone have', and 'nutrients diet food'. The range of vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey the basic message, but frequent inaccuracies and limited lexical variety restrict the score to Band 5.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but attempts at complex forms are frequently faulty. Examples of grammatical errors include subject-verb agreement issues ('everyone have', 'saved money help'), incorrect article usage ('a lots of happy'), and poor prepositional phrasing. Punctuation and capitalization errors are also present, such as starting a sentence with a lowercase letter (' on the one hand'). These frequent errors cause some difficulty for the reader, aligning with the Band 5.0 descriptors.
