Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position that everyone, including young people, should save money for the future. Ideas are presented regarding emergency situations and future expenses like education and business. However, the task achievement is constrained because the essay contains only 216 words, falling short of the 250-word minimum requirement. This under-length issue prevents full development of the arguments, leaving points somewhat repetitive and underdeveloped. Although all parts of the prompt are addressed, the lack of sufficient word count pulls the score down.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organized into four paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion, showing basic paragraphing. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To begin with', 'In addition', and 'To conclude'. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes mechanical or repetitive, and referencing is occasionally faulty, such as 'at this time there is no source of money for them, whereas savings will be an important use for them.' Overall arrangement is somewhat coherent, but cohesion lacks flexibility and natural flow.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is limited and adequate for the task, featuring basic terms like 'money', 'future', 'emergency situation', and 'business'. There are noticeable errors in word formation and choice, such as 'youth to savings money' instead of 'young people to save money', 'unemployement period', and 'marriage life'. While the writer attempts less common vocabulary like 'accommodation' and 'financial support', these inaccuracies prevent the lexical score from reaching a higher band.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, such as 'To begin with, savings is the most important for the people in upcoming days, which helps to survive in difficult situations.' However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb forms, tenses, and word forms, such as 'young people should be save their money', 'bussines', and 'youth want to study in big university to fulfill his dream'. These errors cause some difficulty for the reader.
