Student answer (Band 7.5)

It is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Many people believe that saving money is an essential habit that everyone, including young people, should develop. I strongly agree with this view because saving provides financial security and helps individuals achieve their long-term goals.

One important reason why young people should save money is that it prepares them for unexpected situations. Life is unpredictable, and emergencies such as medical expenses, job loss, or family problems can occur at any time. Having savings allows people to deal with these difficulties without borrowing money or experiencing significant financial stress. For example, a university student who has saved part of his or her income from a part-time job may be able to cover unexpected educational expenses more easily than someone who spends all of their earnings.

Another reason is that saving helps young people achieve important future goals. Many ambitions, such as pursuing higher education, starting a business, purchasing a home, or travelling abroad, require substantial financial resources. By developing the habit of saving at an early age, individuals can gradually accumulate the funds needed to fulfil these objectives. Furthermore, learning to save encourages financial discipline and teaches young people how to manage their money responsibly.

However, some people argue that young people should spend more money on gaining experiences, developing skills, and enjoying their lives. While this viewpoint has some merit, it does not mean that saving should be ignored. A balanced approach is more beneficial, where young people allocate part of their income to current needs and personal development while still setting aside some money for the future.

In conclusion, I strongly agree that saving money is important for people of all ages, especially young individuals. Savings provide protection against unexpected problems and help people accomplish their long-term goals. Therefore, developing this habit early in life can lead to greater financial stability and success in the future.
