Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt directly, taking a clear stance that saving money is vital for all age groups, particularly young people. The writer presents relevant ideas, such as financial independence, funding education, and preparing for emergencies, supporting them with general examples like college fees and health issues. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and simplistic, showing a tendency to over-generalise. While the main position is sustained throughout the essay, the arguments lack depth and sophisticated elaboration, placing the response firmly at Band 5.0 for this criterion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The essay is organised into four paragraphs with a clear introduction and conclusion. However, the logical progression is hindered by repetitive phrasing and awkward transitions such as 'To commence with' and 'Moving further'. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and sometimes incorrectly, such as starting multiple sentences with 'To explain with' or 'The most prominent point is'. Paragraphing is attempted, but the internal flow of ideas lacks coherence due to choppy sentence structures and frequent punctuation errors around conjunctions. Overall, the organisation shows some structure but lacks smooth progression, fitting the Band 5.0 descriptor.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic and repetitive, with frequent reliance on simple words like 'money', 'future', 'save', and 'important'. There are notable spelling and word-choice errors throughout the text, such as 'cricial' instead of crucial, 'expances' instead of expenses, 'hurdels' instead of hurdles, 'concendration' instead of concentration, and 'treatementa' instead of treatments. These lexical inaccuracies and the limited range of vocabulary restrict the response to Band 5.0, as the errors occasionally cause strain for the reader.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer demonstrates a very limited range of grammatical structures, relying heavily on simple sentences and basic subject-verb constructions. Attempts at complex or longer sentences frequently result in grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('young people save money for future'), incorrect verb forms ('we do not the future which situation is comming'), and run-on structures. Frequent punctuation errors, including unnecessary spaces before punctuation marks and incorrect comma usage, are present throughout. These persistent errors cause difficulty for the reader and reflect Band 4.5 to 5.0 control.
