Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is often argued that it is important for everyone to save money for their secure future, including young peoples. I agree that saving money is important for our future, but i also think that young people should spend some of their money for their present needs and experiences.

On the one hand, saving future can secure our future, if their will be any unexpected urgent need of money then we are able to solve the problem. We shouldn't have to borrow money from our known ones or a bank loan. Moreover, by saving money we can achieve our long-term goals , such as buying a house or a dream car. It is most important for young peoples , if they get any expense like medical need or if they lose their job, at that time they have their saving to run their family. Also if any we should save our money in the banks or lending money to someone we can get interest on it.

On the other hand, their is also some disadvantage of saving money. Young people have to spend their money on their current life including education, hobbie, etc. It gives them experiences so that they can enjoy their lifes.

In conclusion , i agree with peoples who save their money but we should set a limits in saving money we should also spent our money on hobbies or life experiences so that we should not have any regret when we are in our old age.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both the importance of saving for the future and the counter-argument regarding current needs, presenting a clear position. However, the response falls short of the word count requirement, containing only 248 words instead of the minimum 250, which impacts the overall completeness of task fulfilment. Key ideas such as financial security and enjoyment of life are introduced, but some points, such as lending money to get interest, lack full development and clarity. While the writer covers both sides of the issue, the under-length nature of the response and slightly limited extension of ideas keep this criterion at a Band 5.5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay displays a basic overall structure with four distinct paragraphs, including an introduction, two body paragraphs representing opposing views, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is frequently mechanical and repetitive, relying heavily on transitional phrases like 'On the one hand' and 'On the other hand'. Referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly with pronouns such as 'their' instead of 'there' and ambiguous subject references. Paragraphing is present, but logical progression within paragraphs is occasionally disrupted by abrupt shifts in ideas. Overall, the organizational framework is adequate for a Band 6.0, though the mechanical use of cohesive devices prevents a higher score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate to communicate basic ideas related to finance and lifestyle, but it lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. The student attempts some less common vocabulary, such as 'long-term goals' and 'unexpected urgent need', but makes noticeable errors in word choice and morphology, including 'young peoples' (repeated plural error) and 'saving future'. Additionally, lexical repetitiveness is evident with frequent reuse of words like 'money', 'save', and 'future'. Spelling and word formation errors, while generally not impeding overall understanding, remain noticeable throughout the text, placing this response firmly in the Band 5.5 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional clauses ('if their will be any unexpected urgent need'). However, grammatical accuracy is inconsistent. There are frequent errors in basic grammar, including subject-verb agreement ('there is also some disadvantage'), incorrect prepositions ('spending money on their current life'), and persistent punctuation and capitalization issues (e.g., lowercase 'i'). The sentence 'Also if any we should save our money in the banks or lending money to someone we can get interest on it' is grammatically flawed and confusing. Because attempts at complex structures frequently result in errors, a Band 5.0 is appropriate.
