Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, stopping abruptly at only 121 words, and is incomplete as it cuts off mid-sentence ("nevertheless , youngstars can use there money"). While the writer does introduce a clear position agreeing with the prompt and touches upon relevant reasons such as financial discipline and emergencies, the ideas are severely under-developed due to the extreme brevity. In accordance with the assessment criteria, a severe penalty must be applied to Task Achievement for failing to adequately address all parts of the task in terms of length and full development. Consequently, this criterion is rated at a band 4.0.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The text demonstrates some basic organisational attempts, utilising transitional markers such as "first and foremost" and "moreover" to sequence ideas. However, paragraphing is poorly handled, with the essay breaking down into fragmented sections and an incomplete conclusion. Referencing is sometimes unclear, and the overall progression is disrupted by the abrupt truncation of the text. Cohesive devices are used mechanically and punctuation/spacing errors further hinder the flow. Looking strictly at the language produced, the organizational flaws place this aspect at a band 5.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The lexical range is limited and basic, containing numerous spelling errors such as "econimic", "imortant", "youngstars", "there" (for their), "finacial", "higer", and "reccssions". While the student attempts some topic-related vocabulary like "financial discipline" and "emergencies", the frequent spelling mistakes and basic word choices restrict the range. Vocabulary is minimally adequate to convey simple ideas, but inaccuracies cause some difficulty for the reader. This corresponds to a band 5.0 for lexical resource.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0
The writing displays a very limited range of grammatical structures, consisting mainly of simple sentences linked poorly together. There are pervasive punctuation and capitalization errors, such as missing capital letters at the beginning of sentences and missing apostrophes (e.g., "todays", "dont"). Run-on sentences and punctuation misuse are frequent, such as the anomalous slash in "moreover /they casn use". Errors are frequent and often cause strain for the reader, leading to a band score of 4.0 for grammatical range and accuracy.
