Student answer (Band 5.5)

In the modern era, many people likes to buy a materialistic things. And advertisement play a big role related to this factor. So there has been a concern about saving the money, especially for young people for their future growth. I strongly agree with this statement because it has more advantages than disadvantages.

First of all, money plays a vital role in human life and without this people can not buy things in all around the world. In contemporary society, many teenagers and adults are getting influenced by the celebrities and purchased luxury items to show off there products to there friends and family members. They think that these materialistic things can improve there living comfort and make their personality better. These assets can be useful if they get a profit from that, otherwise it is a not good thing. However, in many cases the items like watches and cars are having a good value in market place and in return they get a huge amount of benefits. And if they invest their wealth on some realestate properties which will give them a more extra benefits and can also earned benefits and improve their standard of living.

On the other hand, the government are providing many types of financial schemes and policies like Mutual funds and FD's where they can invest their wealth in this and get a huge interest from that. If they can save their wealth right now, then it can be useful for them for there future purpose. And it can also helps them in a medical condition, where those who dont have any insurance policies then there families have to suffer a lot and they do not get a proper medical treatment in the hospitals.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing whether young people should save money, taking a clear stance in agreement. The writer attempts to develop relevant ideas regarding consumerism, investing in real estate, and financial schemes. However, the development is somewhat repetitive and hindered by the incomplete ending of the essay. Phrases like 'First of all, money plays a vital role in human life' state general truisms rather than fully expanding on the core dilemma. The ideas are relevant and there is a clear position throughout, but the abrupt termination and under-development of certain points place this at Band 6.0.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response demonstrates a coherent overall arrangement with logical division into paragraphs for introduction, body points, and an attempted conclusion. Cohesive devices are used to connect ideas, such as 'First of all', 'However', and 'On the other hand'. However, referencing is sometimes unclear, and the use of cohesive markers can be mechanical. Furthermore, the paragraphing is disrupted at the end where the text trails off incomplete with repeated sentence starters ('In conclusion, In conclusion...'). This faulty progression and breakdown in the final section keep the score at Band 5.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'materialistic things', 'contemporary society', 'luxury items', and 'financial schemes'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'likes to buy a materialistic things', 'purchased luxury items to show off there products to there friends', and 'earned benefits'. Additionally, spelling and grammatical form errors ('realestate', 'dont') appear throughout. These errors do not completely impede communication, but they restrict the lexical score to Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The writer attempts a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, incorporating relative clauses and conditional structures like 'If they can save their wealth right now, then it can be useful for them'. However, grammatical accuracy is weak. There are frequent errors in subject-verb agreement ('many people likes', 'the government are', 'items... are having'), incorrect article usage ('a materialistic things', 'a not good thing'), and persistent confusion between homophones ('there' instead of 'their', 'dont'). These errors cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent the grammar score from reaching Band 6.0.
