Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position agreeing with the statement and extending well-developed supporting ideas. In the introduction, the writer outlines valid points such as facing future uncertainty and teaching the value of money to youth. These points are elaborated upon in the body paragraphs. For instance, the second paragraph discusses unexpected events like job loss and business failure, explaining how savings help manage rainy days. The third paragraph successfully targets the specific aspect of young people, arguing that saving fosters independence and prevents materialistic spending habits. Examples, such as a youngster researching comparative prices, help support the arguments. Although the development is somewhat straightforward, it satisfies the requirements for Band 6.5 to Band 7.0. Because the ideas are relevant, clear, and extended with appropriate reasoning throughout, a band score of 6.5 is well justified.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear, logical progression of ideas from the introduction through the body paragraphs to the conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised effectively, separating distinct points into appropriate blocks: introduction, dealing with uncertainty/investments, youth perspective, and conclusion. Cohesive devices are employed to link ideas, such as 'To begin with,' 'Furthermore,' and 'Moreover,' providing a readable structure. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally mechanical or slightly repetitive, and minor organizational transitions could be smoother. For example, the sentence 'To tackle with this kind of hurdles' contains a minor slip in referencing. Overall, the structural framework is clear and logical, comfortably meeting the criteria for a band score of 6.5.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting several less common items and academic phrases such as 'unpredictable,' 'monetary deficiencies,' 'materialistic,' and 'comparative price.' However, there are notable spelling and word-choice errors that detract from precision, including 'compeletly' instead of 'completely,' 'statemement' instead of 'statement,' 'uncertainity' instead of 'uncertainty,' 'younsters' instead of 'youngsters,' and 'crutial' instead of 'crucial.' Furthermore, collocation is occasionally awkward, such as 'tackle with this kind of hurdles' instead of 'tackle these kinds of hurdles.' While these errors do not impede overall communication and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, the frequency of spelling slips keeps the score at a band 6.0.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

The writer uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, including conditional or concessive clauses such as 'Although we can not avoid future losses, we can save money...' and 'If they have the intentions to save money, they will research...' Grammatical control is generally decent, and the meaning remains clear throughout the response. Nevertheless, a number of minor errors persist, particularly missing articles or incorrect prepositions, such as 'Saving money for future' instead of 'Saving money for the future,' 'value of money' without an article where appropriate, and 'establish business' instead of 'establishing a business.' There is also a punctuation error with a comma splice in the introduction ('I compeletly agree with this statemement, It helps...'). Despite these recurring slips, the complexity of structures attempted and the clarity of communication align well with a band score of 6.0.
