Student answer (Band 5.5)

Some people argue about the fact that every individual, even the young people should save money for their future. In my opinion this argument is relevant to a large extent. However, the decision of saving entirely depends on an individual.

Overall, in today's day and age saving for the future makes complete sense. Having enough emergency funds gives a sense of relief and satisfaction to a person. Teaching younger generation to save buils a responsible attitude towards life that sustains for limetime. People who save are considered to be be self - reliant and often respected in the society. For instance, our mothers are the most responsible member of families, they always set aside a considerable amount of the money for later usage and teach us to do the same for future. Saving doesn't makes a person money pincher they can still enjoy life but avoid overspending.

In contrast, other section of the society believes in instant gratification and avoids saving money for the future. Their perspective is to live life to the fullest, as no one is sure about the future. For example, people who splurge a big chunk of their earnings on experiences rather than materialistic stuff are found debating about spending on experiences rather than investing in purchasing things that will be left behind after death.

In conclusion saving for the future is solely an invidual's choice. However, its always better to feel safe then sorry and be prepared to contribute your part by accumulating enough money for future expenditure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the prompt, discussing the importance of saving money and considering both sides of the argument. A clear position is stated in the introduction, where you agree to a large extent while noting that the decision depends on the individual. The ideas are generally relevant, such as emergency funds, responsible attitudes, and instant gratification. However, some ideas feel slightly under-developed or briefly stated, particularly the counter-argument regarding spending on experiences. To reach a higher band, these points could be extended with more specific elaboration or distinct examples rather than broad generalisations. Overall, the task is adequately addressed throughout.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The response has a coherent overall arrangement with clear paragraphing, dividing the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion appropriately. Logical progression is visible as you transition from the benefits of saving in the second paragraph to the alternative perspective in the third paragraph. However, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical. For instance, the transition 'In contrast, other section of the society' has a grammatical error and a somewhat basic link. Referencing can occasionally be unclear, such as the pronoun use in the final paragraph. Paragraph structuring is present, but managing cohesive relationships more smoothly would elevate this score.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, allowing you to communicate your main points clearly. You attempt some less common vocabulary and idiomatic phrases, such as 'instant gratification', 'emergency funds', and 'self-reliant'. However, there are noticeable word-choice and collocation errors, such as 'buils' (builds), 'limetime' (lifetime), 'money pincher', and 'better to feel safe then sorry' (than sorry). Additionally, phrasing like 'today's day and age' is somewhat clichéd. These minor slips in spelling and lexical collocation prevent the vocabulary score from reaching a higher band level.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence forms throughout the essay, such as conditional and relative structures (e.g., 'People who save are considered to be...'). There are, however, several grammatical errors and punctuation slips present. Examples include missing articles ('every individual, even the young people'), subject-verb agreement issues ('Saving doesn't makes'), preposition errors ('saving for the future makes complete sense' vs 'amount of the money'), and spelling/typographical slips like 'invidual's'. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent the response from achieving a higher band score.
