Student answer (Band 6.0)
In today’s unpredictable world, financial security has become increasingly important. While some people believe that young individuals should spend their earnings on enjoyment rather than saving. I strongly agree that everyone, regardless of age, should develop a habit of saving their money for future use. This essay will demonstrate the reasons for this view.
One of the main advantages of saving money is providing financial stability during unexpected situations. Emergencies, medical expenses, job loss, economic recessions could occur without warning. Individuals who have built up their savings are better prepared to cope with challenges without relying on loans and financial assistance. For example, during covid-19 pandemic, many people who existed can be used to manage their living expenses despite losing a source of income. Moreover, saving from a young age encourages responsible financial habits. On the other hand, learning to budget and distinguish between essential and unnecessary spendings helps young people to become financially disciplined adults. In addition, money saved over a long period of time can be invested, allowing it to grow a strong compound interest. This enables individuals to achieve their goals by pursuing the higher education, starting a new business and purchasing a new home without any financial pressure. Consequently, individuals can enjoy a luxurious life according to a personal circumstances
Admittedly, it is equally important for young people to enjoy their lives, invest in individuals and personality development. Although spending money on higher education, travel and skill exposure enriches career advancement. Nevertheless, these objectives should not come at expense of neglecting financial planning. A balanced approach, where a portion of income is saved and remainder is used wisely, is a practical solution.
In conclusion, I firmly agree that saving money is essential for all ages. Furthermore, it plays a vital role in economic growth and development of a organization. It provides financial security, promotes discipline and helps groups of individuals to achieve their goals for better life while preparing them for unforeseen circumstances

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the task directly, presenting a clear and well-developed position throughout the essay. The writer clearly agrees with the statement and supports this stance with relevant arguments, such as financial stability during emergencies, the development of financial discipline, and the benefits of compound interest for long-term investments. The ideas are extended and supported with logical reasoning, although the example regarding the COVID-19 pandemic contains a fragmented clause ('many people who existed can be used...'). Additionally, the conclusion introduces some slightly extraneous ideas regarding the 'economic growth and development of a organization' which were not established in the body paragraphs. Overall, the task is successfully covered, earning a solid Band 7.0 for Task Achievement.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, beginning with an introduction, followed by body paragraphs exploring different facets of saving money, and concluding with a balanced view and summary. Cohesive devices such as 'One of the main advantages', 'Moreover', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition' are used to connect ideas effectively, although paragraphing could be slightly more refined. There are some minor cohesive glitches, such as the dangling transition 'On the other hand' which precedes a supporting point rather than a true contrasting argument. Nevertheless, the progression of ideas remains easy to follow, justifying a Band 6.5 for Coherence and Cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The student demonstrates an adequate to sufficient range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'unpredictable world', 'financial stability', 'compound interest', and 'personality development'. However, there are notable word choice and collocation inaccuracies throughout the text. For instance, the phrase 'spend their earnings on enjoyment' is acceptable, but expressions like 'skill exposure enriches career advancement' and 'grow a strong compound interest' are awkward or slightly unnatural. Furthermore, there are minor slips such as 'unnecessary spendings' (spending is typically uncountable here) and 'come at expense of' (missing article). Because these lexical errors do not impede communication, the response comfortably achieves a Band 6.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating conditional ideas, relative clauses, and participial phrases successfully. There are numerous error-free sentences, such as 'Individuals who have built up their savings are better prepared to cope with challenges without relying on loans.' However, a number of grammatical errors persist, including fragment issues ('While some people believe that young individuals should spend their earnings on enjoyment rather than saving. I strongly agree...'), missing articles ('achieving their goals by pursuing the higher education'), and incorrect prepositions or noun forms ('according to a personal circumstances'). Despite these recurring errors, they rarely impede communication, reflecting the descriptors for a Band 6.0.
