Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by expressing a clear position in favour of saving money for the future, supporting it with reasons such as independence in retirement and handling unexpected medical expenses. However, the development of ideas remains limited and somewhat repetitive. For instance, the discussion of the father's friend provides an illustrative anecdote, but the elaboration lacks the depth and extension required for higher bands. The arguments are presented rather broadly and drift into general statements about unemployment and government programmes. While all parts of the task are addressed, the ideas are under-developed, placing this response firmly in Band 5.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The essay displays basic overall organization, but there is no clear logical progression between paragraphs. The paragraphing is erratic, with several very short, disjointed segments instead of fully developed bodies of text. Cohesive devices are either missing or misused, resulting in a mechanical and choppy flow. For example, sentences frequently begin abruptly without proper transitional phrases, such as 'When someone decide to plan... so actualy they secure future.' Pronoun referencing and substitution are also faulty at times, making the relationships between ideas unclear. Overall, the structural framework is inadequate and shows characteristics of a Band 4.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The student relies on elementary words and phrases like 'save money,' 'future,' 'good planing,' and 'unusefull things.' There are frequent word choice errors and incorrect word forms, such as 'make asset,' 'indipanedent,' 'averness programe,' and 'inteleigent.' Spelling mistakes occur throughout the text, including 'statment,' 'openion,' 'gurantee,' and 'hardworker.' These lexical limitations and frequent inaccuracies cause noticeable strain for the reader, aligning the vocabulary performance with a Band 4 descriptor.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, consisting mostly of simple and frequently faulty complex sentence structures. There are persistent, major errors in basic grammar, subject-verb agreement, and tense consistency. Examples include 'everyone should to save,' 'everyone live in hustle,' and 'all the done by a great planing.' Punctuation is also problematic, with incorrect comma splices and missing periods. These numerous and recurring errors frequently impede communication and distort meaning, which is indicative of a Band 4 performance.
