Student answer (Band 4.5)

My topic for today's writing is save money for future.its very important to save money for future specially for young people because if you're not financially strong enough to study further than you should definitely keep savings and if you're planning to study abroad and there is no one who can sponsor you then you can use your savings that you are saving from the years and if we keep study aside everybody who doesn't have enough privilege save money for the hard times. But there are some people also who have all the privileges and yet they are just saving their money not using on themselves also this is not good also if you have extra money you should spend on yourself, others and all the luxuries that they like.

If I have to give my opinion on this I'll take my experience as a example to explain this topic since I was a child I do a lot of odd jobs to save money for my study. When I was in college I do part time jobs so that I can save enough money to study abroad because I have a dream to study ik UK since childhood. And there are my few friends who spend a lot of money on their clothes, food and travel because they don't need to save money for anything and there was also some people around me who had all the privileges and yet they are not spending they always act like that they can't afford.

So in conclusion, save money it will help you some day don't use extra use when needed.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of saving money for young people and providing a personal perspective. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat repetitive. The writer states that savings help with further education and studying abroad, but the arguments are not fully extended. Furthermore, the discussion includes a digression about people who have privileges and do not spend their money, which detracts slightly from the main focus of the task. The position is clear, but the overall treatment of the topic tends to be basic and lacks the depth expected for higher band levels. Therefore, it fits the descriptor for Band 5, where ideas are limited and under-developed.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The text suffers significantly from a lack of proper paragraphing and punctuation. The entire response is structured as just two massive run-on blocks of text, with the first paragraph lacking basic sentence boundaries and using comma splices extensively (e.g., "...study further than you should definitely keep savings and if you're planning..."). While there is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'if', 'and', and 'so in conclusion', the absence of periods and capital letters makes the logical progression difficult to follow at times. This lack of organisational control clearly aligns with Band 4 descriptors, where information and ideas are not arranged coherently due to faulty structural mechanics.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is generally basic and repetitive, such as 'save money', 'future', 'study', 'privileges', and 'spend'. There are some attempts to use less common expressions like 'financially strong enough' and 'sponsor you', but these are offset by frequent word choice inaccuracies and informal phrasing (e.g., 'keep study aside', 'use extra use'). Spelling is mostly accurate for common words, but the overall lexical range lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands. The vocabulary is minimally adequate for communicating basic ideas, fitting a Band 5 profile where the range is limited and noticeable errors occur.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The grammatical range is extremely limited, relying almost entirely on long, coordinate, and error-ridden complex-compound sentences connected by conjunctions rather than proper punctuation. There is a total absence of full stops in the first paragraph, leading to severe run-on sentences. Tense consistency is also an issue, with shifts between present and past ('since I was a child I do a lot of odd jobs', 'When I was in college I do part time jobs'). Errors in grammar and punctuation are very frequent and frequently impede communication, matching the descriptors for Band 4 where errors are pervasive and distort meaning.
