Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of young people saving money for their future, clearly stating a position agreeing with the statement. The writer extends ideas with relevant reasons, such as financial discipline and preparation for unexpected life events. However, some arguments lack deep expansion, and the introduction contains a slightly confusing and repetitive phrasing ('this essay will dicsuss to a major extent'). Despite these minor issues, all parts of the task are addressed, and a clear position is maintained throughout, fitting the Band 6 descriptor well.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is arranged coherently with a clear overall progression from introduction to body paragraphs and conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas, such as financial discipline in the second paragraph and unpredictable emergencies in the third paragraph. Cohesive devices are employed, including transitional phrases like 'The foremost reason', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, referencing and cohesion are occasionally faulty or mechanical, and mechanical errors in sentence linking detract from the flow. Overall, the organization is clear enough to meet the requirements for a Band 6.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common lexical items such as 'paramount concern', 'financial discipline', and 'indispensable'. However, there are numerous spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'finacial' instead of financial, 'curcial' instead of crucial, 'independece' instead of independence, 'monet' instead of money, 'thne' instead of then, and 'crices' instead of crises. While these errors are frequent, they do not severely impede communication because the intended meaning remains understandable, placing the response firmly at Band 6.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The writing displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating an attempt at varied syntactic structures. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage. Examples include 'finacial security had become', 'across all the age group', 'without soley rely on the parents', 'young professional who save', and 'having save money for the future'. Punctuation errors, such as missing spaces after periods and run-on phrasing, are also noticeable. These errors occur regularly and cause some minor difficulty for the reader, aligning with the Band 5 descriptors for grammar.
