Student answer (Band 6.0)
It is essential for everyone, including youth, to save money for their future. In my perspective there should be a balanced aproach towords spending money.
Saving is a habit of paramount importance. It is essential for young people to save money for their future, as this will not only help them in period of crisis, but will also make them psychologically more responsible. Recent research ellaborates that children who are taught to spend wisely and save for future, are more aware and mature than others. Saving provides a sense of ownership in youth, that motivates them towards their goals.
In contrast not saving for future would not only leave people empty handed in case of crisis but would also create a habit of overspending in people. Reseach demonstrates that people who spend carelessly often have the habbits of spending on unnecessery items, falling victoms to manipulative advertisements.
Some people are of opinion that one should live in present and enjoy it to the fullest. On the other hand some people believe that one should save as much as possible for future. In perspective saving moeny is a good habit, however it is important thst there should be a balance between spending and saving.
Everyone should live in present and enjoy it to the fullest, however a specific amount of income should be saved for future use. Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The student addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position that balances saving for the future with enjoying the present. Ideas are relevant and supported with explanations regarding crisis management and psychological maturity. However, some arguments lack deep extension, and the conclusion slightly repeats previous points rather than synthesizing new insights. For instance, the discussion on advertisements and overspending touches upon relevant points but remains somewhat broad. Overall, the response fulfills the requirements for Band 6.5 to 7.0, showing a clear stance throughout, though development is occasionally repetitive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with logical sequencing of ideas from personal perspective to benefits of saving, contrasting views, and a balanced conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct points. However, cohesive devices are sometimes mechanical or underutilized, and transitions between paragraphs could be smoother. For example, starting sentences with 'In contrast not saving' or 'In perspective' highlights minor clunkiness in referencing and linking. Overall progression is clear, meeting the descriptors for Band 6.0.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting less common items such as 'paramount importance', 'manipulative advertisements', and 'unseen circumstances'. However, there are several spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'aproach' instead of 'approach', 'towords' instead of 'towards', 'ellaborates' instead of 'elaborates', 'habbits' instead of 'habits', 'unnecessery' instead of 'unnecessary', 'victoms' instead of 'victims', 'thst' instead of 'that', and 'moeny' instead of 'money'. These errors do not impede communication but prevent the lexical score from reaching Band 7.0.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating some control over structure through relative clauses and conditional ideas (e.g., 'children who are taught to spend wisely and save for future, are more aware'). However, frequent punctuation and grammatical inaccuracies persist, such as missing commas after introductory phrases ('In my perspective', 'In contrast'), subject-verb agreement issues, and awkward phrasing like 'This income can be proven really helpful'. Despite these errors, communication is rarely impeded, aligning well with the Band 6.0 descriptors.
