Student answer (Band 6.0)

Saving money is one of the personal habits that can make people prepared for the upcoming future. Advantages of this personal practice outweighs any related disadvantages to a greater extent. I firmily believe this habit is not only important for adults but also young generation to make them individually responsible and establish financial stabilty.

My primary preference is as it leads to the development of healthy habits such as setting aside money to manage financies responsibly. Many people including young people spend a large sum of money without batting an eye to the expenses. This irresponsible behaviour leads them to not to value the actual importance of money. To them it's just something they need to spend as soon as they get it. Such individuals face challenges in the future of being financially dependant to someone else. On the other hand, people who learn this skill at a young age becomes responsible and independant adults in financial matters.

Aditionally, saving money can ensure long-term financial security. It can serve as an emergency fund in the time of need. Many unplanned events and needs come in life and one way to deal is having enough build-up savings set aside for such unexpected circumanstance. This can be seen in an example as a persona faces a challenging financial situation, but if they have been saving money for a time, they can deal with this unforseen financial expense.

I would strongly agree with the devolpment of money saving habits as it helps everyone to be financially independant and be responsible for their own future.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt effectively, taking a clear and well-developed stance that saving money is essential for both adults and young people. The introduction clearly states the writer's position, and body paragraphs present relevant arguments regarding personal responsibility and emergency preparedness. Ideas are extended with explanations and examples, such as mentioning how individuals without savings face financial dependence or how funds act as a safety net during unexpected circumstances. Although some arguments could benefit from further depth, all parts of the task are addressed adequately. The response meets the requirement for a fully developed discussion on the extent of agreement, earning a solid band score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0

The essay displays a generally clear overall progression and logical organisation. Paragraphing is utilised effectively to separate introduction, main body points, and the conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'On the other hand', 'Aditionally', and 'This can be seen in an example as' are employed to guide the reader through the arguments, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical or are flawed grammatically (e.g., 'My primary preference is as it leads to...'). Referencing is mostly clear, though occasional lapses in cohesion prevent the text from achieving a higher band. Overall, the structural framework is sound and supports the flow of ideas adequately.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, attempting less common lexical items such as 'financial stabilty', 'independantly', and 'unforseen financial expense'. However, there are noticeable spelling errors throughout the text, including 'firmily', 'financies', 'dependant', 'Aditionally', 'circumanstance', and 'devolpment'. Word choices are generally clear enough to communicate the intended meaning without causing major misunderstandings, but the presence of these spelling and morphological inaccuracies places the response firmly within the band 6 category.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The response incorporates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, such as conditional ideas and relative clauses. There are, however, several grammatical errors and awkward phrasings present, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'people who learn this skill at a young age becomes'), incorrect prepositions or modifiers (e.g., 'dependant to someone else'), and punctuation flaws. While these errors do not impede overall communication and the reader can easily follow the arguments, the frequency of non-systematic errors prevents the grammar score from reaching a higher level.
