Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is important for everybody, including teenagers, to save money for their future. I largely agree with this statement due to the fact that it can improve individuals' overall quality of life and can foster greater financial security.
A particularly noteworthy advantage of saving money is its potential to boost the overall quality of life. This can largely be attributed to the fact that there will be more disporsable income, thereby enabling individuals to access their needs with ease. As a result of this, individuals may have lower stress, which can promote their well-being. This can be exemplified by the way people work nowadays. In most cities, most people work for long hours to earn their living. As a result of this, they may have little or no time to interact with their families, which can cause mentall instability. If people could save money for future, they may have more cash, which could help them reduce stress, eventually contributing to a better life.
Another compelling benefit stems from the extent to which savings can foster financial security. This is particularly significant because encouraging individuals to save for the future can give them a long-term benefit. By having access to money, people are better positioned to quality decision making, which can subsequently lead to unnecessary debt. For instance, if teenagers can accumulate their money, they may be able to pay for their university fees instead of relying on government funding or loans, which could bring unnnecessary borrowing. Ultimately, this can foster greater financial stability and quality of life.
To conclude, I strongly believe that it is important for everyone, including young people, to save money for their future because it can improve individuals' overall quality of life and can foster greater financial security.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the task and presents a clear position throughout, agreeing largely with the statement. The ideas are relevant, extending to how saving money improves quality of life by reducing stress and fostering financial security. For example, the student discusses how teenagers accumulating funds can pay for university fees. However, some arguments contain slight generalisations or under-developed links, such as the leap between working long hours, mental instability, and how saving cash directly resolves this. Overall, the prompt is fully addressed and ideas are appropriately supported, aligning with Band 7 descriptors.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
There is a clear logical organisation and progression throughout the essay. Each paragraph has a distinct central topic, opening with a clear overview and moving through well-structured body paragraphs that begin with topic sentences like 'A particularly noteworthy advantage of saving money...' and 'Another compelling benefit stems from...'. Cohesive devices are used appropriately, such as 'Consequently' and 'Ultimately'. Paragraphing is used effectively, although some transitional links feel slightly mechanical or repetitive in structure (e.g., 'As a result of this'). Referencing is generally clear, earning a solid Band 7 rating.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
The student demonstrates a sufficient range of vocabulary to allow some flexibility and precision, employing less common items such as 'financial security', 'disporsable income' (with a minor spelling slip), and 'financial stability'. There are occasional errors in word choice and spelling, notably 'disporsable' instead of 'disposable', 'mentall' instead of 'mental', and an awkward phrase 'to quality decision making' instead of 'to make quality decisions' or 'to quality decision-making'. Despite these minor lexical inaccuracies, the vocabulary is adequate for the task and does not impede communication, matching Band 6.5 or a solid 6 descriptors.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 7.0
The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating control over relative clauses and conditional structures (e.g., 'If people could save money for future, they may have more cash...'). There are some grammatical errors, such as missing articles ('for future' instead of 'for the future') and awkward phrasing in 'lead to unnecessary debt' contrasted with 'bring unnnecessary borrowing'. Another slip occurs in 'accumulate their money' rather than 'accumulate savings'. However, these errors are relatively infrequent and rarely impede communication, allowing the response to comfortably secure a Band 7.
