Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0

The candidate addresses all parts of the prompt by taking a clear and fully developed position in complete agreement with the statement. Ideas are extended and supported with relevant explanations regarding financial planning and the avoidance of hardships. For example, the writer notes that planning for the future prevents severe consequences and allows individuals to avoid borrowing money or facing financial crises. While some of the supporting details tend to over-generalize or become slightly repetitive, the main position remains well-supported throughout the essay, demonstrating a competent understanding of the task requirements.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The response presents a coherent overall arrangement with a clear stance established in the introduction and maintained through body paragraphs. Paragraphing is utilized to separate key arguments, such as the advantages of saving and the avoidance of debt. However, cohesive devices are sometimes faulty or mechanical, as seen in awkward transitional phrases like 'Heading towards the advatanges' and frequent punctuation errors around conjunctions. Referencing is also occasionally unclear, such as ambiguous pronoun usage with 'its' instead of 'their'. Progression is discernible, but logical flow is hindered by awkward phrasing and mechanical cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is adequate for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'unnessecary', 'consequences', and 'financial crises'. However, there are notable spelling errors ('unnessecary', 'advatanges', 'inaffordable') and persistent word-choice and collocation inaccuracies, such as 'cravings over distinct essentials' and 'bowing in front of others'. While these lexical flaws do not completely impede communication, they restrict the band score. The range is minimally adequate to convey the intended meaning, but precision is frequently lacking.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, attempting ambitious structures such as conditional sentences ('if a person saves all of its income...'). However, grammatical accuracy is weak, with frequent errors in prepositions ('Regarding to savings', 'depend upon'), pronoun agreement ('a person... its income'), and relative clauses. Punctuation errors are also prevalent, including comma splices and missing articles. These errors occur across both simple and complex structures and occasionally cause difficulty for the reader, though the core meaning usually remains decipherable.
