Student answer (Band 5.5)

It is significant for everyone involving young residents to save money for future. Every member of the society have their own needs so earning of money is important for everyone. I agree that saving money is invaluable for the future as it helps in later ages. Whenever a person meed money they can use their savings. So it is convenient for every young people. I also diagree that saving money in young age makes a person micer due to it they only save money and don’t use it even at such times when they have to spend.

Saving money in young ages make a resident responsible in every field of life. They learn the basics of living their lives in a proper way. They abstain to waste money in unnecessary products. They get to know the value of money and use it only for necessary purposes. For instance, the valuable person in every society is that who manages their expenses in a manner way. The people who saves money can use it in future for supporting their families or in business or developing their career or for educational purposes.

On the other hand, saving money can lead to a person become a big micer. Even though they save it, but their mindset become dull. They only want to save money as they did same in their previous time so they don’t know how to spend it in a good way. For example, all the micer residents try to save their money even it’s a single penny. They always try to save their pennies and don’t eat anything. They don’t like to shopping and often wear old fashioned clothes.

In the conclusion, saving money is crucial for becoming successful in life as it helps for developing future. But also everyone have to learn the way to save it not to become a micer. The best way of saving money is that using it in proper ways like whenever it requires to spend money so everyone have to do it.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses all parts of the task by taking a clear, albeit nuanced, stance that partially agrees and partially disagrees with the statement. The writer successfully discusses the benefits of saving money for young people, such as responsibility and future security, while also exploring the counter-perspective that excessive saving can lead to an undesirable frugal mindset (referred to as a 'micer'). Ideas are extended and supported with relevant explanations and examples, such as mentioning career development and educational purposes. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise and are slightly under-developed, particularly the examples illustrating extreme frugality. Overall, the task is addressed well, matching the requirements for a Band 6.0 or 6.5, leaning towards a solid attempt at a Band 6.0 due to some generalisation.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement with a clear attempt at logical organisation. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the introduction, two body paragraphs discussing opposing views, and a conclusion. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical and faulty. For instance, transitional phrases like 'In the conclusion' are awkward, and referencing is not always clear (e.g., 'does not know how to spend it in a good way' lacks a precise antecedent). While logical progression is visible, the cohesive devices feel repetitive and slightly clunky at times, which prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. These characteristics align closely with the Band 6 descriptors for Coherence and Cohesion.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The writer demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task and attempts less common items, such as 'responsible in every field of life', 'educational purposes', and 'unnecessary products'. However, there are noticeable lexical inaccuracies and inappropriate word choices throughout the text. The most prominent error is the repeated use of the non-standard word 'micer' (likely intended to mean miser or penny-pincher), along with awkward collocations like 'developing their career' instead of advancing a career, and grammatical word-formation issues like 'valuable person' when 'valued' or 'sensible' was meant. Spelling is generally acceptable, but word-choice errors are frequent enough to restrict the score to a Band 5.5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The response exhibits a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, though complex structures are often faulty or restricted. There are frequent grammatical and punctuation errors that occasionally impede communication or cause strain for the reader, such as subject-verb agreement errors ('Every member of the society have', 'everyone have to learn'), incorrect preposition use ('saving money in young ages'), and awkward phrasing ('the valuable person in every society is that who manages'). The control over grammar is inconsistent, preventing the essay from achieving a Band 6.0. These features strongly reflect the Band 5.5 performance descriptors, where frequent errors persist and cause some difficulty.
