Student answer (Band 6.5)

Saving money is significant in the lives of all individuals including people of young age, specifically for their future life. Keeping their money safe for facing the life challenges ahead make people financially responsible and mature. I totally agree with this argument as savings also assist people in investing their money which can help them in the times of financial crisis.

First and foremost, people particularly of young age tend to spend a plenty amount of payments in shopping or other useless products when they are unable to save their money. Consequently, they should save their money for their life ahead as it will help them to become financially independent and mature. For instance, saving even 10% of pocket money or the salary can make a huge difference in their daily lives which they can use during the financially unstable situations.

Moreover, investing the savings from the salary or pocket money can have multidimensional benefits for the future lives of individuals of the society. The major benefit of investment is that the money is kept in safe hands and can be withdrawn whenever needed. The invested money also has the potential to grow the economic status of the society. For example, people become interested in saving and investing when individuals are aware about the investment strategies and its advantages associated with increase in the social status of people as individuals and as a society.

In conclusion, savings can play a significant role of development for people including younger individuals especially for their future lives. Saving money makes people financially stable so they don't have to depend on others for fulfilling their daily needs. Also, investing the saved money provides them with multiple benefits. In support of these logical reasonings, I strongly concur with this stated idea that it's crucial for people of all ages including the younger ones to keep their money safe for their future life.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0

The response successfully addresses all parts of the task by presenting a clear position on the importance of saving money for the future, especially for young people. The writer explores both the personal benefits of financial responsibility and the broader economic advantages of investment. Ideas are generally well-supported with relevant explanations, such as allocating a percentage of pocket money or salary, and the potential uses of invested funds during unstable situations. While some of the arguments, particularly regarding the societal impact of investments, become slightly repetitive or general, the overall task requirement is fully met. The position remains consistent throughout the introduction, body paragraphs, and conclusion, earning a solid Band 7.0 for addressing all parts of the prompt with a clear and maintained stance.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response demonstrates a clear overall progression and logical organization throughout. Each paragraph has a distinct focus, beginning with the introduction of the writer's stance, followed by body paragraphs addressing personal financial habits and investment benefits, and ending with a concise summary. Cohesive devices are used reasonably well to connect ideas, such as 'First and foremost', 'Consequently', and 'Moreover'. However, there are minor instances where referencing is slightly mechanical, and the use of transitional phrases could be more varied. Paragraphing is managed sufficiently and appropriately, clearly separating the distinct arguments presented by the student. Overall, the structural flow is easy to follow, making Band 6.5 the most appropriate score for the cohesion and logical progression demonstrated.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

The student exhibits an adequate range of vocabulary suitable for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'financially responsible', 'multidimensional benefits', and 'financially unstable situations'. However, there are some noticeable inaccuracies in word choice and collocation, such as 'spend a plenty amount of payments in shopping' instead of 'spend a large amount of money on shopping'. Additionally, phrases like 'grow the economic status of the society' are slightly unnatural. Spelling and word choice errors do not impede communication, but they prevent the writing from achieving a higher band. The lexical resource displayed aligns well with the Band 6.0 descriptors, showing an adequate vocabulary range that allows the writer to communicate their main ideas clearly despite some lexical awkwardness.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.0

The essay displays a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, incorporating relative clauses and subordinate structures successfully, as seen in sentences like 'Keeping their money safe for facing the life challenges ahead make people financially responsible and mature' (though featuring a subject-verb agreement error with 'make' instead of 'makes'). There are several grammatical errors present, such as 'a plenty amount of payments' and minor punctuation issues. Despite these errors, the complex structures attempted do not obscure the intended meaning, and communication is rarely impeded. The variety of structures used alongside frequent error-free sentences places this response comfortably at Band 6.0, reflecting a satisfactory control of grammar with occasional lapses.
