Student answer (Band 5.5)

I completely agree that saving money for the future is very essential for all generations of people. If we consider the case of an adult, it is very important for a adult to save money because in the current society and generation the pricrs and costs of every goods are increasing due to high growth of inflation.

On the other hand, for young people saving money is something which is very valuable because the saved money will somedays help him or her to support their college fees and other thing. The main benefit is, we can use the saved money in case of an emergency and to lead a good life in the future without any financial trouble. For example, if a student saved a good amount of money since his or her childhood, that money is a helping hand for the student if he or she was studying in abroad.

In case of working individuals can save a good amount to celebrate their own occasions like marrige, birthday and many more. In case of any medical needs those savings helps the persons to utilise them for their hospitals bills.

In conclusion, I would say that saving money is very important activity for a person to overcome his or her depts and fullfill their needs. Especially, for students saving money is very essential because the money they saved will be very useful for them to use in their education or to cover their tution fee. It can reduce the fee burden on the parents. While coming to an adults condition saving money helps to overcome and face the financial burden with a good rate of confidence.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt directly, establishing a clear and consistent position in agreement with the statement that saving money for the future is important for everyone. The ideas are relevant and supported with explanations and examples, such as considering college fees, studying abroad, and managing medical bills. However, some arguments tend to over-generalise or remain slightly under-developed, particularly when shifting between adults and young people. While all parts of the prompt are addressed, the depth of extension places the response firmly within the Band 6 descriptors. The writer successfully covers the main requirements of the task, though further elaboration on how saving directly impacts future security would elevate the score.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a coherent overall arrangement, with a clear introduction and conclusion. Paragraphing is utilised to separate distinct ideas, such as paragraphs dedicated to young people and working individuals. However, the progression between ideas is sometimes interrupted by mechanical or faulty cohesive devices. For instance, transitional phrases like 'While coming to an adults condition' are awkward, and referencing pronouns (e.g., switching between 'he or she' and 'they') creates occasional confusion. Cohesion within paragraphs could be smoother and more natural to achieve a higher band score. Overall, the logical flow is adequate for a Band 6, but lacks the flexibility and smooth progression associated with higher bands.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student uses an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully attempting less common items such as 'inflation', 'financial trouble', and 'tuition fee'. However, there are notable word-choice and spelling errors that detract from precision, including 'pricrs' instead of 'prices', 'somedays' instead of one day or eventually, 'marrige' instead of marriage, and 'depts' instead of debts. Collocations are occasionally unnatural, such as 'an adults condition'. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is not impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, aligning well with the Band 6 descriptor criteria.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writing demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, featuring conditional clauses ('If we consider the case...') and relative clauses. However, there are frequent grammatical errors and punctuation lapses throughout the text. Examples include article misuse ('an adult', 'an adults condition', 'studying in abroad'), subject-verb agreement issues ('those savings helps', 'the money they saved will'), and awkward phrasing. While these errors do not impede overall communication, they occur with enough regularity to prevent the response from reaching Band 7, making Band 6 a fair and accurate assessment of grammatical control.
