Student answer (Band 6.0)

Depositing currency for ones future through regular savings is a mandatory action everyone should consider which includes even the youngstars. Saving money is a habit which can be built through daily efforts that in return will benefit us. We live in an economy which is getting more unpredictable as we move forward. The value of money keeps crashing down due to the worldy chaos and we are the frontiers who will suffer its consequences.

This habit needs to be trained which needs to start from ones childhood. It is a parents duty to teach their child the importance of money and why they should learn to regulate their spendings. If a child starts saving money from a young age, they will learn about responsibility and will have adequate money mangement skills. Along side that they can choose to spend their money wisely on future dreams instead of relying on their parents everytime. If i have to talk about myself then i would say that my parents have encouraged me to save my money rather than spending it on useless extravangant purchases. I can use that money any time for any personal emergecy along with that i can utilize it to buy myself anything i want that i think is within a resonable range. I have become quite self sufficient at a young age and i continue on protecting my money from unnecessary expenses. My parents also have allocated savings for both me and my brother which is now helping them to plan my future education abroad very smoothly. They do not have to worry about funds and can be relaxed with their current situation. This can be a great example for anyone to ignite the thought of saving their money into their minds. Instead of living an unpredictable life everyone should learn to be resistant of their impulsive choices regarding their weath. People should be more thoughtful of their life decisions and opt for products that doesnt hurt their wallet and make it dry. The need of a comfortable and reliable future is felt by everyone and that can be achieved through saving money everytime they can.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The response successfully addresses all parts of the prompt by discussing the importance of saving money for everyone, including young people, and presents a clear position throughout. The writer extends and supports ideas well, utilizing personal experience and logical reasoning, such as parental guidance and future financial security, to justify the argument. While some points tend to over-generalise regarding unpredictable world events, the main ideas are well developed and clearly linked to the overall thesis. The student covers all aspects of the task effectively, demonstrating a solid understanding of the prompt's requirements. This performance aligns comfortably with the criteria for Band 7.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The essay displays a clear logical organisation and progression overall, though paragraphing is a noticeable weakness as the entire body of the essay is compressed into just two massive paragraphs. Cohesive devices are used, but they can be somewhat repetitive or mechanical, such as the frequent reliance on 'If' clauses and linking phrases. Referencing is generally clear, and the writer guides the reader through the argument, but the lack of distinct paragraph breaks between the introduction, body points, and conclusion hinders a more sophisticated flow. Consequently, these structural limitations place the response firmly at Band 6.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

The student demonstrates an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, attempting some less common items such as 'self sufficient', 'emergency', and 'extravagant'. However, there are several noticeable spelling and word choice errors throughout the text, including 'youngstars' instead of 'youngsters', 'worldy' instead of 'worldly', 'spendings' instead of 'spending', 'mangement' instead of 'management', and 'emergecy' instead of 'emergency'. Additionally, some collocations are awkward, such as 'make it dry' in reference to a wallet. Despite these inaccuracies, communication is never impeded, and the vocabulary is sufficient to convey the intended meaning, matching the Band 6 descriptors.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

The writer employs a mix of simple and complex sentence forms, demonstrating attempts at conditional structures and relative clauses, such as 'If a child starts saving money from a young age, they will learn about responsibility...'. However, there are frequent errors in grammar, punctuation, and article usage. Examples include missing commas after introductory dependent clauses ('If i have to talk about myself then i would say'), lowercase 'i' pronouns, and incorrect subject-verb agreement or phrasing like 'products that doesnt hurt their wallet'. While these errors do not impede communication, they persist across the text, preventing the response from reaching a higher band. Thus, a score of 6.0 is appropriate.
