Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

The response addresses the prompt by discussing the importance of saving money for the future, including for young people, and takes a clear position in agreement with the statement. Ideas are presented regarding inflation, emergencies, and retirement, such as when the student mentions that 'the saved money can use as emergency' and helps 'when people get retired.' However, these ideas are often repetitive and under-developed, relying on general assertions rather than well-extended arguments or specific examples. Furthermore, the reasoning can be overly simplistic and occasionally repetitive in its explanations. Because the prompt is addressed with relevant main ideas, but the support lacks depth and extension, this performance aligns closely with the Band 5 descriptors.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The essay is organised into paragraphs, featuring an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion, which shows an attempt at overall structure. However, logical progression is frequently disrupted by awkward transitions and repetitive statements. Phrases like 'On moving ahead' and 'Further discussion' are used mechanically and unnaturally to link ideas. Referencing and substitution are weak, leading to confusion, such as in the sentence: 'the upcoming young generation will not save money for their future so they can.' Paragraphing is attempted, but internal cohesion is faulty and mechanical, with repetitive sentence structures dominating the flow. These features place the response firmly at Band 4.5 to 5.0, best represented by a band score of 5.0.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is basic, repetitive, and heavily restricted. The student frequently repeats simple words and phrases such as 'save money,' 'future,' 'price is rising,' and 'young people.' There are noticeable word choice and collocation errors throughout the text, including 'in present time,' 'price of gold and sliver,' 'bacterial problem,' and 'emergency hospital cases.' Attempts to use less common vocabulary are either inaccurate or inappropriate for the context, causing some difficulty for the reader and making meaning obscure at times. The lexical range is minimally adequate to convey very simple ideas, matching the criteria for Band 5.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Grammatically, the response exhibits a very limited range of structures. Simple sentences dominate, and the attempts at complex or compound structures are almost entirely faulty and lack control. Frequent errors in tense, subject-verb agreement, and prepositions are present throughout, such as 'the price is rising in all things,' 'in now a days,' 'people from poor condition they can not buy,' and 'it will very help full to that people.' These persistent errors and the lack of error-free complex sentences cause considerable difficulty for the reader and obscure the meaning of several sentences, reflecting the descriptors for Band 4.5, which rounds to a Band 5.
